They did not defund the police as much as have another department take over. I wonder if they pay additional taxes to the county now?

Excellent moved by Massenutten: no more employees insurance liability, no more paying life insurance, no more paying health insurance, no more filing federal and state taxes, no more funding retirement plans, no more providing police automobiles, no more paiding utilities and the list goes on and on.

Wow, never knew that a private police force as the primary law enforcement in an area existed in modern times. Private security overlapping actual law enforcement sure, but private police sounds scary.

This arrangement sounds similar to the police forces that exist at many colleges and universities.

My brother lived in Sea Ranch Lakes, near Ft Lauderdale. It is a gated community behind 10ft high concrete walls. Even thought there is only around 350 homes, they have their own private police force that mans the gates 24/7, as well as patrols the development and acted a concierge service to the residents.
