As a Birch owner I didn't even know StreamSide got a new General Manager last May. We just got a letter from her end of last month. She sounds really good. She has a wealth of experience having been with Marriott 15 years, 7 of which she oversaw the opening of all five bldgs at Marriott's Ocean Pointe. I really like the direction StreamSide is heading in, reading this letter and the recap of recent improvements. I'm glad I decided to keep my Birch week; I see a bright future ahead under the helm of GM Ms. Melissa Fritsche.

Haven't received the letter yet. After being up-ended by the staggering MF increase, I'm looking for reasons to be optimistic about continued Birch ownership.

Care to share the reasons for your enthusiasm for the future?

She was brought in as the GM of Spicebush just before Marriott dumped them.

I don't know if it means anything specific. It could be just a coincidence.

Jack,

If I had a scanner I'd scan the letter but I don't. It's dated Jan 20. Call Melissa Fritsche to request it be resent to you. Her number is 970-476-0985 ext. 6105.

I got the letter and, while I think it's a positive for Streamside to have a new manager, I don't think most of the resort's problems are really within the manager's control. She can help with the little things, but there are still major structural and design issues. The next major expense...now that Birch has budgeted for the sprinkler system upgrades...will be the cost of upgrading the clubhouse and pool. They desperately need it.

Let's hope that the 37% increase in maintenance fees is enough to cover the Birch building's share of this expense. That increase was enough for me to sell my week.
