We recently sold a Desert Springs Villas I (DSVI) to an acquaintance. The deed to the new owner recorded on July 29 but the escrow company said it may take Marriott 4-6 months to recognize the change of ownership! It has already been three months. So, I called Marriott customer service last week and reminded them that DSVI has no "Right of First Refusal" so I don't understand why it takes them months to change ownership. They advised there was nothing they could do so transferred me to "customer advocacy" who said they had no control over the matter. It was the "owner modifications" department that replaced the current owner with the new owner, so they transferred my phone call to them.
After explaining the situation to owner modifications, I was told there was no way they could speed up the process because of the backlog of transfers was enormous. In this computer age, that makes no sense. How long does it take to input a new owners information on a data base? When I explained the new owner wants to reserve a timeshare now for next year, they said they cannot speed up the process. When I suggested more personnel should be hired to lessen to backlog, she had no answer. Perhaps the delay by Marriott is a way of telling "weekly owners" they are no longer important and we should buy points.
Disturbed and Disappointed,
