I have a chance to get a 1BR unit at Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Molokai, Maui and Lahaina Towers using Club Points. I am unclear if these units have an in-room washer and drier. The pictures also seem to show a mini fridge. Are these the hotel conversion units? The pictures I see in the MVC web site look similar between the two property names in the title of this thread.

Which are the conversion units and which are the purpose-built timeshares?

I normally stay at the Westin properties in Maui and would prefer something built to be a timeshare.

There is no in room washer/dryer. There are free laundry facilities and free detergent is supplied. The one bedroom has a 3/4 size fridge.
The Napili and Lahaina towers are purpose built timeshares with in unit washer/dryer.
The Molokai, Maui, and Lanai towers are the hotel conversion units.

The Molokai and Lanai towers share a well-equipped laundry facility in the lower lobby only. The units are also equipped with only a microwave for cooking, but no stovetop In the units. There is a common-use kitchen center with several stovetops on the lobby level, and several grill areas across the grounds.

The trade off for the laundry/kitchen facilities in the Molokai/Lāna‘i/Maui towers is an extra bathroom. With a 1 bedroom you get 2 full bathrooms and with a 2 bedroom you get 3 full bathrooms. When traveling with our family, we’ve found the extra bathroom to be more useful than the in room laundry/stove top/oven. But, it depends on what you prefer.

I agree with the more bathrooms if you have family there with you. I find the older towers rooms are a bit bigger as well.

Your thread title is off. There is no:

Molokai, Maui and Lahaina Towers

There are 2 areas as JTP1947 notes above.

There is construction going on in the old section- last month they were working on rooms in the Lanai building.
All amenities were open.
Check the hub or call the resort for more details.

That is the name that the MVC web site had for the Club Points reservation it offered me. There was also a simple Marriott's Maui Ocean Club, but that had no availability. I cut and pasted from the site.

I suppose the Club Point reservation under that designation meant they could assign me a unit anywhere on the resort? To me, there is a big difference between the purpose-built units and the hotel conversion. I would take one in the new towers, but not the hotel conversion.

There are 2 choices for points booking on MVC owners site:

1) Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Molokai, Maui, and Lanai Towers
Lāhainā, Maui, Hawaiʻi, USA

Lāhainā is the town that was tragically destroyed by fire last year. The resort is actually just north of there in Ka'anapali Beach.

This is the older 3 building hotel conversion which lacks full kitchens and in unit laundry.
There is construction going on in that section.

2) Marriott's Maui Ocean Club
Lāhainā, Maui, Hawaiʻi, USA

This is the 2 newer purpose built towers named Lahaina & Napili.
I dont know why MVC lists it that way without including the building names.

-You will be located in one of the 3 older buildings if you book #1 and in one of the 2 newer towers if you book #2.

It is all one resort, sharing amenities it’s just the unit accomidations that differ.
