Looking forward to visiting the resort for the first time from Dec 28 to Jan 11 on 2 II exchanges. We are multiple Marriott weeks owner and have enrolled in DP.

Of course, since we are on an II exchange - we will be placed in Island view even though the owners that relinguished these two weeks owned Oceanview units. I understand that many of the units face the parking lot.

Should I call to ensure that they are aware that we are Marriott timeshare owners - in hopes that it will give us some preference in room assignment over other II exchanges.

Also, the resort website shows a $15 per day parking fee. Will we have to pay this fee since we are Marriott timeshare owners?

Are there plenty of beach loungers for guests or do you have to get up at 7 am to grab one?

Thanks for any comments.

Last time I was there, I called and they put me in a OV unit in bldg 5 (I think). Reasonable ocean view. I prefer Island view over parking lot view on the outer side of the building.

Loungers were no issue. No parking fees for owners when I was there.

Enjoy the ocean. It is amazing. We may hit there in Sep again.

We went in Apr on an II exchange. They actually upgraded us from Island to Oceanview. Can't remember what Waiohai does, but exchangers into MKO get the view category listed on the exchange.

Parking is free for owners/exchangers.

Had no issues getting a lounger.

You're going to love it.

Waiohai has put us in the coded view category on our past 4 II trades there. Having said that, most of the OV units have marginal views and many of the IV units have very nice views. No matter what the view, it’s a great resort! You will not have to pay for parking.

Thank you all for your replies. Just talked to the pre-arrival desk and they are aware that we are Marriott owners - so hope that we don't look at the parking lot for 2 wks.

Haven't been to Kauai for years - I know there is a Costco in town. What is the major supermarket in the Poipu area and is it well stocked?

Are there loungers on the beach or are they mostly by the pool?

There is a Big Save supermarket in Old Koloa town, just a few minutes from Waiohai. Smaller than a typical major supermarket. There is a regular Safeway on the outskirts of Lihue between Lihue and Poipu, but that's at least 20 minutes or so each way. There's also Living Foods Market in the Shops at Kukui'ula - more a boutique food store, but close by and some nice items.

On our last trip, we made one Safeway run, and then did our "top off" trips to Big Save and Living Foods.
