I have a Gold Ocean Front Week at Hilton Head Grande Ocean...What are the possibilities of trading into Disney Vacation Club?

I've just recently had a successfuly exchange trading my efficiency at Grande Vista with Disney Hilton Head Island resort (for the week of the 4th of July). Good luck with your trade.

Off season trades into DVC happen all the time. BUT trading for a 2 bd is much more difficult than trading into a 1 bd or Studio. If you need a 2 bd, IMHO, I'd trade into one of the great Marriott resorts in Orlando. But if you can live with a 1 bd and are not traveling in super peak travel times, you'll likely get your trade into Disney.

If you request your trade one year in advance, are flexible with your dates and don't need a major holiday week, you have a good chance.

Flexibility is the key.

Your chances are extremely good.

Unless you must be at Disney, as was mentioned, there are some great off-site alternatives.I just got back from spending a week at Marriott's Cypress Harbour and it was fantastic. I could've gotten the trade easily, but opted for a getaway instead because I thought it was a much better deal and for what we got, a tremendous value.

I thought about staying onsite, but in our group, some wanted to do Disney more often than others. Others wanted to do Sea World and Discovery Cove as well as stuff outside Orlando. I was concerned about the ease in which we would be able to drop off in the a.m. and pick up people at the various Disney resorts in the p.m. without paying for the parking, but it turned out to be an absolute breeze.

Later edit: To me, your MGO gold OF is way too valuable to trade away for Orlando unless you could get exactly the DVC you wanted or some peak holiday time at a Marriott in Orlando.

You may be better off trading with somone that owns a DVC. I own Beach Club Villas and it would be extremely difficult to get a 2 bedroom there. The owner preference is from 7 to 11 months in advance of check in.

We used our 13 month priority and reserved two weeks at Timberlodge during the highest demand week of the summer. We have already traded our 1BR for a 1BR at Ko Olina for next Sept., and are now waiting for the other trade...a 2BR at any 2BR DVR during either of the two weeks before Xmas 2009.

Will keep you posted how we make out....

What about the other way around? If we deposit a good week at Disney would we be likely to get into Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head? I know the S.C. properties have high owner occupancy. I'm torn between points at DVC and a platinum week at OceanWatch.

DVC owners deposit points, not weeks, when dealing with II. As a matter of fact, DVC owners do not deal directly with II. We have an II desk at Disney. Disney, then in turn decides which weeks they will release to II.

I've traded into Disney twice using Marriott. I first traded my 1BR AC for a Martin Luther King week Old Key West 1BR. The second time I traded my MSE studio for a 1BR Saratoga Springs in July. Neither trade was in flexchange. Both were just sitting there on line.
