Marriott timeshare in Cancun?

Just came back from our 3rd trip to Cancun in last 3 years and just love the theme parks and restaurants there (not so impressed by the rough water and deep beach though), and still didn't see any sign of a Marriott timeshare there.

I remember a while ago people here talked about possible conversion of CasaMagana to a timeshare. Is this still the plan? Would love to see a Marriott timeshare there.

I don't know if conversion of the Casa Magna was ever in the plan. VAC owns land in Cancun. I believe it is the empty lot that is beside the Live Aqua Cancun. In fact, I love this location much better than the Casa Magna which is much further down the hotel zone.

Marriott did mention in their Corporate Investor Day presentation that they are possibly looking at options for this land. I believe the land is still for sale, but their mention of it in the presentation did lend hope to some of us that they may still build a property there.

Interesting: would love to see that happen. One thing puzzling me about Marriott is they tend to have many resorts in the same location (like in Hilton Head, Orlando, and Palm Beach) and then completely skip other popular places...

I think it comes down to ease of entry. Buying and building in some places just isn't easy. Starting from the ground up in a new location where you have no established connections in the community isn't always easy.
