Read this thread on FT, and not just the first post. The first post doesn't mention the devaluation for travel packages and 7 night awards and the addition of a new cat 8.

I haven't absorbed this yet to determine how bad the devaluation is this time around.

It's bad!!!!

A one week stay in Europe at a category 7 hotel is now 150,000 points. Under the new redeemption schedule a category 8 hotel (London, Rome, Paris & Capri) will cost 240,000 for that same week stay!

That's a huge increase from 150,000 to 240,000!

The biggest increases are in the higher categories for 7 night stays, including the travel packages.
