I will need to do a re-trade as can't go to NCV as planned next week, I am of course hoping to re-trade to there but if not would like to have a few other resorts as a plan B. What resorts would you recommend for a couple who enjoy nice restaurants and shopping within about a 2-3 hour drive of LAX? Preferably Marriott but if something of equal quality we would consider.

Not many timeshares in the vicinity and the few I know of trade with RCI. You might consider San Diego.

What time of the year are you looking at? NCV is an easy trade towards end of the year. Four Seasons Aviara in North Carlsbad is also frequently seen for dates at end of the year.

Newport Beach, CA

That’s where I was supposed to be going next week and hoping to retrade to here but wanted some back up options.

If you've never stayed at Desert Springs 1 or 2, or, Shadow Ridge, they are great places. < 2 hours if not during rush hour.

Palm Desert/Palm Springs. Marriotts, Embarc, Worldmarks, Welk.
I haven’t really seen many San Diego except for Welk. But we always need a 2bdrm. HGVC, GPR, Wyndham/Worldmark are part of RCI primarily.

Diamond Resorts has two timeshares in San Juan Capistrano that would put you right in the middle of LA and San Diego.

Is NCV shut down?

I am in Spain so can’t leave nor get into USA.

I’ve been lucky to retrade today (my last day to do it) back into NCV for May 17th, however I believe even by then I will not be able to travel with US restrictions!

No. None of the MVC properties is shut down.
The MVC Pulse in San Francisco has now announced that it will be closed to arrivals.
They say they will contact owners using their ownership weeks regarding alternative vacation options.
On the one hand, that sounds good.
On the other hand, how can you use an ownership week at a Pulse, which is 100% Trust owned?
Am I missing something here?

Probably something standard that they will continue to use for other resorts if they are forced to close. They will just change the logo at the top.
