I am wondering if anyone on this board has actually had a resale Marriott T/S pass onto them. I don't know how long Marriott has been in the T/S business. If you have been a recipient of your parent(s)' Marriott T/S, can you post your experience with the transfer of title, reserving weeks, etc. I would think that it would pass onto my kids just fine, but want some first hand experience. If you inherited NCV, even better!

Thanks!

We are currently in the process of this with my father-in-law's estate. Although these were not resale T/S, it still has been a tedious process. With three T/S, MOC in Aruba EY, and 2 MGV EOY and my FIL's will did not specify how these were to be distributed and they were not part of a family trust.

My in-laws passed away within 10 months of each other, and my FIL had not updated his will. I highly suggest that T/S be put in the name of the Family Trust, or have children's name listed in a survivorship. Seek advice of an attorney who has had experience with Marriott T/S and get it all in order.

On the positive side, we have not had any problems using the T/S weeks that have accumulated. My FIL did make sure we knew how to reserve weeks and log into his account, and use II. It helps that these were my FIL's (my husband's father) and whenever I call to reserve etc. I am MRS. Timeshare Owner.;)

BTW we had to pay ROFR fees, and transfer fees for each.

Marriott transfer

When a Marriott is transferred after the primary owner's death does the new owner retain the benefit of being able to trade for points?

TIA,

Danette

My last four Marriotts were deeded with my name and one of my kids so they automatically inherit it. Although mentioned in my will, my first two are in my name only, so I'm not sure what I should do with them as changing the deed might not be that easy. As I purchased directly, the survivor heir gets to trade for point.

Yes, when someone receives ownership of timeshare as a result of a family transfer, the points stay.

MVCI used to charge $50 to transfer title to a family member.
