No pressure very easy review of vacation points

$100 marriot gift card for 1.5 hours

1000 points lowest amount offered at $9.20
2000 points gets an incentive of free closing or 125,000 marriot reward points

Told that can resale points at whatever price negotiated but marriott has ROFR. For enrolled owners they have not determined exactly how to deal with legacy points other than to say right now can only use within 60 days I believe if I remember correctly. Claim 80% owners enroll and 50% buy more points.

good morning...

Legacy points can't be resold...The weeks they are attached to can, but once the Legacy week is resold it becomes ineligible for DC program and conversion to Legacy points...

Trust points represent partial ownership in the trust and can be resold. It is my understanding that there is a fee to waive ROFR + a reducation fee to the new owner before they can be used. They also come with some serious restrictions (can only be used within 60 days for reservations...

If someone out there knows differently, please advise...

I don't even think these can be given away!!!!

Was that minimum points and price for current owner's or new to Marriott. If was only for current owners, do they say what the newbie levels are?

This is a stupid decision by Marriott IMO. So, we have alot of enrolled (80% is ALOT), legacy folks running around with almost 'worthless' deeded weeks (well, at least to a certain point)? If the legacy weeks are willed (to kids, for example), does this (ineligible for DC program) still hold true?

I believe they retain their status as developer weeks and continue to be eligible for all original purchaser/owner benefits including exchange for MRP and enrollment in DClub.

Or, a DC member can make a reservation with his/her DC Points and then rent that out to anyone (enrolled Weeks owner, un-enrolled Weeks owner, non-Marriott owner.) The difference is that if one DC member rents Points to another they are then controlled by the renter, but if a DC member rents a reservation the Points remain in control of the member (similar to a rented Weeks reservation remaining in the Owner's control.)

Sue..not so sure...

Technically, when a Legacy DC member makes a reservation it is through the DC exchange company and is considered an internal exchange. I am not sure these can be rented out. This is in contrast to when a Legacy owner occupies his/her own ownership week. This can be rented out. Is there a case in TUG land where a DC Legacy owner made a reservation thru exchange company and rented or gave it to a non related 3rd party????

I can't remember who it was but yes, a TUGger has said that s/he rented out a DC reservation. Let me see if I can find a thread ...

Ah, here's one where it was Greg who did the renting!

And another, with TUGger TheTimeTraveler renting both ways.

I think it's important to note a couple of things. One, both the Weeks and Points governing docs contain some form of prohibition against renting that constitutes "commercial activity." I've never seen a report on TUG that Marriott ever enforced that limitation. Two, II imposed the restriction against renting an II exchange, not Marriott. It's in the fine print if you search II's terms and conditions. The DC Points docs do not contain anything similar to that II restriction.

No, in that case the legacy weeks retain all their rights and options, including the right to join the DC program and exchange for MR points. However, the child who inherited the week must join the DC club as a new member (unless he or she is already a DC member). The DC club membership is not inherited, only the eligibility to enroll the week(s).

Sorry I do not know if for owners only. She did say that they most likely would not continue with 1,000 as a minimum.

i'm so confused. I thought that a legacy owner who joins the Destination Club can purchase a legacy week which is already part of the Destination Club and that week he purchases remains with the new owner in the Destination Club.

Am I wrong.

You are wrong.

A week that is resold is not eligible for the Destination Club.

Price was 10.20 with a $1 per point discount (maybe due to being an owner, not sure)
