I am an enrolled deeded week owner in the process of selling my week which probably won't close until end of this year or early 2025. I placed a request for points rental on the TUG marketplace and received a reply that I am interested in pursuing. But I am wary already because I had 3 very obvious scammers reply to my rental request on FB Marriott Vacation club groups in the last month. The renter replied via TUG bb messages. Is there some way that I can view their participation on this site to try to confirm that they are infact a MVC points owners before going through MVC verification? Thanks.

While it is great you are trying the TUG Marketplace, you can also use VacationPointExchange.com. All owners there now have to be verified.

You could also try asking for a screenshot from their Marriott Vacation Club owner account showing they own points. Not 100% fool proof, but most scammers don't have any ownership at all.

I have used Vacation Point Exchange a number of times to buy and sell points. I guess I will try again because the person who contacted me from TUG marketplace wants me to rent their one time use points for $15 a point. I told her this was not realistic and directed her to VPE site. She said she was advised on TUG to rent her points for $15. I think she is confused or I am totally missing something. I hope this post does not go against policy.

Yeah, $15 a point isn't right. That is more than most people pay to buy them from MVC.

Sounds like a scammer, 'cos owners should know how much it costs.

the marketplace is separate from the forums. did they reply thru your marketplace message or did they sent you a message here on the forums?

note that ANYONE can send a message via a TUG listing, not just TUG members.
