Marriott Owners Updates

So the new price is $16 per point instead of $14.17 per point?

The recent offers of $100-150 for a presentation on Maui is an insult to current owners.

It's a particularly low offer to those of us who have gotten 50,000 Bonvoy points for a presentation. Marriott is getting cheap. Is anyone being offered the $300 anymore?

Even our friends said no last month at Marriott's Maui Ocean Club, and they bought Ko Olina direct years ago. And she was interested in more points, so they blew that opportunity.

In the 1990's, Westgate gave us $100 for a presentation, and that was so easy to say no to the salespeople at Westgate, and I wasn't even a TUG member back then. Same with Orange Lake, Vistana, whatever Diamond was before it was Diamond, Welk, and all of the other presentations we attended way back when.
So your friends were going to overpay by tens of thousands of dollars to buy direct but they chose not to over a few hundred dollars of pre-pay?

Maybe the Karen was another salesperson playing up the value of Reserve. I know that's a stretch.

I cannot imagine people with money wanting more "timeshare," as the very word is a bit of a middle-to-low-income kind of sound to it.

Our friends would have taken 300 points for the presentation in a heartbeat. They didn't offer that, but they should have.

They were willing to listen, and they do love Marriott. She commented that she wanted to see the Lahaina villas. They stayed at MMO with points. These are not those friends that would listen if I said to them, "You should buy resale Abound points, if you want to own more."

There are some people who can take advice, and some that cannot take advice. I saw them roll their eyes when I was talking about buying Marriott weeks resale and trading through II. They did that before Destination Club, and they don't think exchange works. They used to use their Ko Olina in II and they got lousy exchanges for their high MF's, and they love points.

I think exchange works pretty well.

WOW you declined that??? Im sorry to say, but you missed out on the deal of the century.
I know that you are commenting toungue in cheek. Instead, I got 400 club points that will give me a nice off season stay somewhere that I like. It was worth 60 minutes of which we really only talked for about 30.

yes yes I was being facetious but thats a nice presentation gift. But still, how did you turn that offer down??? Big miss lol.

Someone with more discretionary income than the average person. Either that or someone with a lot more income than brains.
Or someone who was lied to. At ocean point made it like we got 45% off pts at all times and that’s why the extra pts we got back would cover the maintenance. His math showed we could spend $200,000 and be ahead in 3 years 😂 I used to correct them and stop them but now we just see how far they would go.

You’ve got to love timeshare math. They are absolute wizards on those dry erase boards.

That and writing upside down. When I said I’d consult our financial advisor he said if he doesn’t agree we should fire him 😂

Remember, your financial advisor won’t understand anything about your 401V, only your salesperson!
Surely your not telling me that being a Marriott BonVoy Millionaire isn’t an important part of retirement planning 😉😂
