1) How many Marriotte abound points are needed for a platinum week ( floating high) stay in a oceanside room ( scallop or conch)? Not sure if there is a website to show this. I am trying to figure out how many points do i need to book a one week stay in June/July/August time frame.
2) i found a week sale for high season /oceadside for 12000 and 13000 on redweek. is that a good deal?

Your answers:
1) 2024 - OceanWatch, Ocean Side - Weeks June 1 thru Aug 15th 4,175 points (excl July 4th week). --- Alternative - If you did a 5 day Sunday night check-in and Friday check-out it would be 425 points per night for a total of 2,125 points. Friday and Saturday nights are a premium at 1,025 points per night.
2) Platinum week at $12,000 is a good deal. Plus, you are assured a reservation during the Platinum season (weeks 20 to 32 excl 26 - that's 5/16/24 to 8/10/24, excl July 4th week - not so easy to get OW reservations with points. Owners like their weeks and use them or rent them out. Some owners will exchange for points but there is never much available for points.

If you buy it, have the seller make the reservation for next year and transfer it to you at closing. Don't delay this until MVC records the week in your name - 60 to 90 days out.

Probably more info than you want. Good luck.

See you at the resort with a bunch of kids and grandkids - it's a family favorite.

If you want to stay at OceanWatch in the summer regularly you should buy a resale week there. Points inventory in prime summer season is limited and difficult to book. Lots and lots of weeks owners at Oceanwatch and many use or rent their weeks instead of electing points because it’s very easy to rent for more than the maintenance fees.

Don’t buy points just to stay at Oceanwatch in the summer or you will likely be disappointed.

Watch the ROFR on this one. I don't have time to look right now but there is someone on here who tracks - self reported results. I would not hesitate to pay the $13,000 as a good chance to pass on the ROFR. I paid $11,500 for three of the weeks you are buying less than a year ago. These are "hot" weeks.

Maintenance fees for this year were $1,632, that's $.42 per point in maintenance fees if they were enrolled. Keep in mind that MF's on points are $.70 for this year. Your equivalent maintenance fees will always be lower than if you were to own points to secure your OW reservation.

Marriotts:
Grande Ocean x 6
Barony x 2
OceanWatch x 1
Manor Club x 1
.
Waterside by Spin x 2
Sheraton Bdw Pln x2
ChurchSt/Charleston x2
Just in general, if you decide you like the East Coast beaches/pools/amenities/activities, etc, particularly as found at the Marriotts
(Myrtle Beach's Oceanwatch, Hilton Head's Grande Ocean, Barony, or Surfwatch) then absolutely purchase a resale deeded week.
You won't regret it, and you'll have a FAR easier time booking what you want year after year.
And if you REALLY want an advantage, buy TWO weeks to take advantage of the 13 month booking.

You'll enjoy a lifetime of memories, and buying a resale week pretty much assures you of recouping your money if you ever sell (just a mental plus),
as resale prices do not immediately drop as the ink dries on the transaction as it does buying directly from Marriott, but instead stays fairly steady.
We own at Oceanwatch, Grande Ocean, and Barony (see left column here), and we have enjoyed our own "paradise" for a long time and will continue to.
Matter of fact our whole family and very young grandkids are here at Grande Ocean now (2 birthdays this week)-----
My oceanfront living room's screen window is open so I can hear the ocean (and the sound of the waves are loud!),
and I'm literally smelling the bacon right now and sipping my coffee,
all the while alternating between watching the French Open tennis on TV and seeing the dolphins play just offshore.
Somebody please pinch me, this can't be real.

I liked your suggestion of buying Marriott's two weeks.
