Marriott misdirected Annual Dues now I can't book Maui

I own two separate Marriott Properties. I paid dues for Maui and noted on the check which timeshare it was for. They misapplied the funds to Timber Lodge but never notified me. When I attempted to book Maui I couldn't. No help on phone. I have gone to corporate and though they admit the mistake, they can't get us into Maui when we need to go (school in session). I was also charged late fee erroneously. Has anyone else experienced this type of nightmare with misapplied funds?

I had this issue before. When I bought 2 weeks at Desert Springs I through Marriott Resales several years ago, their Title company insisted that I prepaid MF for the following year even though I bought in June and closed in Sept/Oct. When I tried to book the weeks, I was firstly told that I did not own the weeks in the following use year, and then later on when they were convinced that I had ownership of that use year, I was told my MF was not paid. Subsequently they applied both MF to one week, making the other week unbookable because I had money owing on it. It took many calls and several weeks to get it resolved. Marriott said the title company should never have collect the MF from me and hence I was never billed for the MF but the MF went into some sort of holding account.

I am not too clear.
Do you own at Maui and Timber Lodge?
Have they applied your funds twice to Timber Lodge?
I am guessing the MFs for Maui and Timber Lodge are rather different, so it seems a very strange situation.
Clearly though, if they have misapplied the funds they need to do whatever is within their powers to put you back in the situation you should have been in if they had applied the funds correctly.
Having said that, if Maui has now been fully booked for the period you want/need to go it is difficult to see how they can free up inventory for you (unless for example they hold unit(s) back for maintenance and can reschedule that work or they can “buy” a unit from Marriott which had been converted to Marriott Rewards points or...?)

If you don't have the Marriott Credit Card then do get it. Once you have it be sure to make all your Marriott charges on it so that you can grab those free points.....

You also won't have to ever worry about misapplied funds.....

Do you still own Timber Lodge or did they apply that payment to a property you were in the process of selling? If the latter then that is very unfortunate. I have bought timeshares that were supposed to be already paid and weren't but I have also bought some that were not supposed to be paid and were.

Definitely take the advice and always pay online with a credit card. The 6 points per dollar with the SPG Amex is the way to go and without a human to make the cash application error you are worry free on that type of mistake.

Yes and definitely set up a Marriott account on the web to use that CC with to pay the bills. Then you eliminate the chance of someone making the mistake except you.

Did you also pay the Timberlodge maintenance fee with a separate payment?

I think we are missing part of the story here, which I think is evidenced by many of the questions posed in response to the original post.

I think there is definitely something missing from the story. OP posted once and hasn't responded to any questions.

Fishy.

I agree. Fixing the fees is pretty easy but they can't generate inventory even if it was their mistake. I wonder if they would do a priority waitlist.
