II sent me this email yesterday, stating resort is closed. I’m fearful of arriving and then having to find my way back to oregon immediately. Marriott said they were open, but could they really close by this weekend?

I am going to assume you called the Marriott in Maui and asked them directly if they are going to be open?

I thought US Marriott were only open to owners. Didn't think II trade qualified as owner thus the confusion. I would call directly.

Remember there is still the 14 day quarantine for all arrivals through June 30 and possibly beyond.

But don;t ignore the quarantine. The front desk gives you a one time use key to get into your room, where you stay for 14 days.

No intention of violating quarantine. Thus staying for 4-7 weeks

I received the same e-mail last night. Have multiple future points and II reservations booked into August to extend our current stay at Marriott Ko Olina. Called Interval and all reservations were still valid in their system. Talked to front desk and all reservations still valid. Logged onto Marriot account and all points reservations still there. I believe just a system error and not too concerned after the follow up at this point.

Will be tough stuck in a room the first 2 weeks without egress, but then you'll have the place to yourselves.

I agree. It's one thing being stuck at home for two weeks but we can at least go outside and get some fresh air and take a walk. The Maui 14-day quarantine does not allow that. One is literally a prisoner in their unit.

Could never do that, it would scar me for life from ever returning to Hawaii... Best wishes...

Have you made arrangements for transport from the airport? I read the rental car companies cannot rent to new arrivals during the quarantine.

I'm not sure I would plan it but if I had a vacation trip planned for at least 4 weeks I would deal with the first 2 weeks in quarantine if it happened and if it was a choice of losing entire trip or dealing with the quarantine. . Several conditions would need to occur as well. Pools would need to be open and my lovely wife would need to be with me. I'd work the first 2 weeks because I've always been a mobile worker and then we could enjoy the solitude of the island which would be pretty amazing even if we had limited access if it was basically a deserted island.

Maybe if you had a lanai it wouldn't be too bad. But it would kill me to be so close to the ocean and not be able to go to the beach.

For me it was just as true in Wisconsin and it’s the same here. In Wisconsin, I lived in a subdivision with a lake. We had a small boat for fishing but if I got out twice in a summer it was a lot. Now here in Hawaii, I’m three blocks from the ocean and I’ve probably been to the beach 8 to 10 times. This working thing gets in the way of everything.:D My time is coming.

As for the quarantine, If I had 7 weeks, I would come and enjoy the lanai, knowing I would be able to enjoy it later. Coming just for 14 days or even three weeks, probably not.

When I'm on vacation in Hawaii I want to be on the beach. I'm landlocked the rest of the year and this is when I get my ocean fix. Being locked in for two weeks, even if I were going to be there longer, would kill me.
