I purchased our 2BR unit last year, and this year will be our first visit. I have heard that parking is complementary for owners. My sister-in-law is coming with us, and has decided to rent her own car. My understanding is that she will be able to park but will have to pay $9/day. Is that true? Are there any parking alternatives other than paying the $9 fee?

No, you won't have to pay. Just tell them that the car is with your party and ask for the weekly parking permit. You only pay if you use valet parking.

Thanks for responding. I think I messed up my original question. I obviously meant to say "her car" rather than "our car". If you deciphered the question I typed, you mean we can park two cars free?

I would like to piggyback on the question. Is parking free to all - I am a Marriott owner, but not at KBC. Thanks.

Hotcoffee. Consider renting a car when needed. Since this is your first visit to the KBC, you should know that the KBC is only a few minutes to the airport with the courtesy shuttle. If your sister-in-law needs a car for the “just in case” and “I like to be independent” reason, she could easily do a car rental. In fact, the KBC also has car rental agency on site. Last year a friend joined us and rented an airport car twice through Priceline and used the shuttle.

Also, consider dropping of your car rental(s) the evening prior to departure and then take the shuttle to the airport. Saves time and makes the travel day more relaxing.

Bob,

Thanks for responding. Although this is my first visit to KBC, it is not my first visit to Kauai. I've been there a number of times, and there are places we will be going off-site. Our problem is that there are six of us in our party - too many for one car. So, she decided to rent her own car to give her a degree of independence. I asked the question because I was hoping she would not be hit with a significant parking fee at the end of our week.

I was unaware of an on-site car rental agency. Those are the kind of things one usually learns after having been to the site at least once. I was also unaware of the airport shuttle. I guess in retrospect I could have guessed that a big resort complex so close to the airport would have shuttle service.

Thanks for the information.
