Can anyone send me a copy of the restrictions on the Certificate that Marriott is offering to owners unable to travel to their home resort due to the virus? I understand there is a $99 exchange fee and a 120 day limit on advance bookings for the exchange. My question pertains to any other blackout dates, destination restricted, etc. Thank you!

Just heard from Marriott Owner Services. There are no restrictions other than finding available inventory within the dates covered.

I was told the same thing last week by Marriott customer service when I canceled a MOC reservation for May 23. She said no restrictions other than 120 days and usage by December 2021. I asked if there were any limitations on where it could be used and was told no.

I was told the same in 2 MVC chats- one last week and one yesterday. Both agents said “that I am aware of”.
I was asking for a friend while chatting about another matter. My friend said he would send me a picture of the cert when he cancels.

I just used the certificate today. Same trading power as your original Marriott week but within 120 days. You just have to see the inventory. Got what I wanted. Asked what happens if I need to cancel that reservation too due to travel restrictions / resort closed. They said that "we will cross that bridge when we get there". So much unknown to them too. I think II has been helpful and trying to do their best.

When and where do these certs show up in II? I am still waiting on mine. I think MVC quoted 10 days. Is that from time of call into MVC for the request, or time after reservation check in, or check-out, or? What are others seeing?

Good question.
I called 3/26 for two units with 3/29 check in.
Still don’t see anything in my II account.

I had to call because 10 days later nothing was posted on my account. I did my exchange on the phone, too. Saw the week I wanted but no certificate (checked with another unused deposit) . II rep issued the certificate and got me the exchange I wanted. I had paid an unit size upgrade fee with the original exchange and that carried over too so it really was a no-fee certificate.

I guess I’m going to have to cancel my May 8th Aruba Surf Club 2 br weeks reservation and get this certificate. Does anyone know if I cancel can I lock it off to get two certificates in II? TIA

This sounds as if you had an II exchange.
I am talking about an owner week reservation at my home resort.

I assume it is the same type of certificate. It was told it keeps the Marriott trading power.

Marriott lock-offs previously could not be done within 60 days of check-in. You might call Owner Services to see if they will make an exception.

Whether a unit can be locked off or not depends on the property. If the property has both dedicated 2BR and 2BR Lockoff units and all the 2BR Lockoff units have been booked, they are unable to lock off a dedicated 2BR unit for you regardless of when you put in the request for it.

I was told the same thing. That MVC was going to put my week into II within 10 days. That was weeks ago and all that's showing in II is my Surfwatch week, with a button next to it that says DEPOSIT. Am I supposed to deposit it? I've never used II and I'm totally confused as to how this is to be handled, as I was told Marriott was taking care of it. Does anyone have a number to call for II? Or should I call MVC tomorrow?

TIA
Dee

I just used the chat feature on mvci.com, usually it's pretty painless. Just was chatting 10 minutes or so ago. They are usually pretty good. Many of us on TUG love II, though many do not. I have traveled all around the world using II by exchanging just my studio part of a week. While I enjoy many features of the ownership, II has been my favorite part.

Dear Owner,

With respect to your recently cancelled reservation for arrival at Marriott's Ocean Pointe for check-in on March 29, 2020, we wanted to let you know that due to the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), we’ve made arrangements for you to receive an Interval International® certificate. So while you’ve had to pause your vacation now, you can still play in the future.

Your Interval International certificate — equivalent to a vacation week — will be deposited into your Interval International account within the next 10 business days and will have a reduced exchange rate of $99. Additionally, your normal reservation and travel windows have been expanded for use of this certificate. You can check availability for use of this certificate up to 120 days prior to your desired travel date. Vacations must be completed by December 16, 2021, which is when this certificate expires.

Don’t have an active Interval International account? If you wish to receive this certificate, you will need to activate your certificate by creating an account via IntervalWorld.com. Once your Interval International membership is active, please re-submit your cancellation request using the web request form on MarriottVacationClub.com.

Hi. My 10-days was up last week Friday. I called Marriott Owner Services yesterday. They told me the certificate has been deposited with II, but it’s taking them longer to upload everyone’s certificates to individual’s accounts. Basically they are very backlogged. She suggested I wait a few more days before I check my II account again.
