Marriott Grande Vista unit requests?

We have a 2 bedroom at Grande Vista next month that we are using for a long weekend. My kids are 9 and 7. We've only stayed there once, and I recall them both really liking the MAZE playroom and the ice cream place. I don't recall much else about the resort though. We got the "submit your vacation preferences now" email today, and I'm not sure what to ask for specifically other than being near the main building? I'm open to suggestions from anyone who is familiar with this resort.

Pool, view, sun?

I think your unit request is based on pool, view and sun. If your small children want to be at the main pool with the water canons every day and not walk, then stay near the pool. I always want the lake view near the main lake.

I prefer a unit facing East from the Balcony to have morning sun and afternoon shade. My favorite buildings are across the lake from the main pool. There is a quite pool on that side and a fun walk across the bridge to the main building.

There is no right answer to your question. It all depends on what you like. You can do a search on Grande Vista villa requests and find a whole bunch of threads on this topic. It comes up about once every month or so. Everyone has their preferences.

Just one thing to note: there are two "main" pools now. There's the "Villiage Center Pool" and the "Plaza del Sol" pool. Your kids would probably like either one, tho the Plaza del Sol pool is nicer, IMO (bigger, and more stuff to play with). Buildings 84 and 79 flank it, and it's just a short walk across the bridge to the main building.

I don't think you can request buildings anymore. You can only specify pool, lake, or golf course view. You can sneak in a building request into one of the other fields, so if you want a specific building, you can try that.

I just got my Vacation Request from MGV for an upcoming vacation. As in the past, you can only specify 1st and 2nd choice view-level combinations. To request specific building choices, I used to write my request in the field where it asked for an additional confirmation number (in case you wanted to link reservations). However, this year, that field still exists, but it has the following text in it: Insert Confirmation Number(s) Only. I guess a lot of people were trying to make additional requests in this field. :( I hope I get my preferred building now. Maybe I'll call a week before arrival and see if I can add a building request to my reservation.

With younger kids, staying near the main areas or large pools is key for us when it is warm enough to swim. We prefer to stay across the bridge near the "Plaza del Sol" pool. The kids love the water cannons. Staying near the "Villiage Center Pool" is nice as well, especially if you want close proximity to the ice cream and kids MAZE playroom/activities. The golf or lake views are great and to some extent quieter, but could mean a bit longer walk if placed further away from the main pools especially when carrying all the gear (towels, toys, sunscreen, etc, etc).

Oddly enough. I own two weeks at Grande Vista and have NEVER gotten the building I have requested even after both filling out the online request form and calling. I've had more success at every other MVC resort we've attended. Not sure why.

We'll be at Grande Vista in a few months, so interested in which villas are being refurbished now. Per May 2015 newsletter, he were the buildings refurbished last year.

1Q15 Refurb: Buildings 95, 94, 93 and 80.
3Q15 Refurb: Buildings 81, 82, 83 and 87.

Also interested to see how the Plaza del Sol refurbishment went last year. It was a bit tired when we were there slightly over a year ago.

We stayed in building 93 last April. Here is an album of some photos of the villa.

Thanks for the photos! The refurb room looks very nice with the lighter colors - like an understated elegance.

We are here at Grande Vista. We requested a lake view and were shocked to get the Monterrey ( bldg 87) overlooking the end of the lake. Very nice. This was one of the renovated bldgs and they did a great job. Ours looks like dioxide's.The weather could be better...in the 50-60's but no rain. After the 80's in Palm Beach, it is cold! Going to another presentation in the am for the 250 MVP's plus $50. Add this to the 250 pts we got in HH for their presentation and that will be a week for us there next winter!
