What are my chances, using a Spring 2bdr Trapp Lodge, to get a 1, 2, or 3bdr at the Marriott Grand Chateau any time from Jan 1 - June 1, 2009? How far ahead are deposits available to non-Marriott owners? Is this resort considered the best in Las Vegas? Many Thanks! :)

Right now I can pull 1 and 2BR units at this resort with a non-Marriott in January, February and March of 2009 (not all weeks but many of them during that timeframe) - so some are there already for the taking. If you need a specific week then put in an ongoing request.

No 3BRs though - those are probably harder to get.

I just checked with both my lock-off & 1 bedroom Shadow Ridge. With the lock-off, I could see all including 2 bedrooms from end of August 2008 through end of July 2009. With the 1 bedroom SR, I saw only one 3 bedroom Grand Chateau available in Sept. It appears that the 3 bedroom units are deposited few and far between. I suspect most people lock them off prior to depositing.

Edited to include additional information: It's a gold season SR and I just locked off and deposited a late Nov. reservation with II earlier this week. Originally had other plans for this week, but decided to deposit pretty much last minute instead. Good to know it still has excellent trade value.

I would think it shouldn't be all that difficult to pull a 1 or 2 bedroom unit there for your dates. I would think that March and April would be a little tougher since the weather is reasonably nice then. Jan and Feb can be a bit on the cold side, May and June will be getting into summer time temps.

3 bedrooms are likely to be harder to come by as they lock-off into a 2 bedroom and full 1 bedroom unit. I can't imagine a lot of owners depositing the entire 3 bedroom unit. I know we plan to always lock ours off unless we need all 3 bedrooms for our personal usage. When we exchange, I plan to always lock it off and look for other Marriott resorts to exchange into using the Marriott to Marriott exchange advantage and lower exchange fee's.

Is it the best in Vegas? I guess that depends on what you want out of your timeshare resort. Grand Chateau has a great location and excellent rooms. The roof top bar provides one of the best outdoor views of the strip at this time. On the other hand, the convenience store is very small and high priced and the pool is laughable (very tiny). I haven't seen any cabana's around the roof top pool to provide any shade from the heat of the day either so, it's going to be hot, hot, hot up there with a tiny pool only 3 ft deep to try and cool off in. If you're a pool fanatic, then you definately won't consider this the best resort in Vegas. When we were last there, Grand Chateau owners were allowed to use the roof top pool at Polo Towers or the pool at Planet Hollywood just by showing their room keys.

Thanks for all the replies. The airfares are high, but we're shooting for some time in the first 6 months of '09. I appreciate the feedback. I'm really surprised there are so many Marriott Grand Chateaus online. I thought it would be a tough trade. We're hoping to combine sightseeing, casinos, and nature day trips. A little birding, some hiking, the Hoover Dam. I have a lot of research to do, I'll pick up a Fodor's guide. Any good Vegas websites for additional info that you might know of?
