What would be your recommendation on when to trade studio vs 1br?
We usually do instant exchanges. So we will always use the smallest deposit to confirm an exchange and pay whatever upgrade fees are necessary. This usually means we are trading using our studios first.

That was going to be my suggestion - look at booking weeks 41, 42 or 43 and depositing a year out. You will then have longer to use the deposits, and it likely will have little to know impact on your trade strength.
Does anyone know what is so special about week 41-43 to have a high TDI.
Can I cancel what I just booked without paying extra ?

What about exchange requests? I used up my one bedrooms already and have the two studios left. Unsure if I’m overshooting by leaving those as searches during peak seasons.

Also if I cancel an exchange request with eplus already purchased, do I lose the prepaid fees?

If it’s been more than 24 hours there is a $40 change fee.

When I called it was <24 hours and he said I can just modify the reservation when the time comes to book for week 41. He changed it from deposit to occupy .

It still should include the change fee so likely another $40 past 24 hrs even if modifying.

Then I wonder why he did not just cancel the reservation and allow me to book week 41 when the time comes. That is what I asked him to do.

He may not have realized you own an unenrolled week. If the week is enrolled there is no change/cancel fee. But with unenrolled weeks it’s $40 if you change after 24 hours.

We can't say but ANY change done after the 1 day grace period should have the fee unless it's waved due to being enrolled. You may need to try to make the case you were misled but I doubt you'll be successful. I have 18 weeks enrolled and if I changed or canceled after the grace period on the 2 that are not enrolled, I'd have the fee.

Oh boy. Is it worth it then to make the change?

I'd call and see if they'll let you make the change without the fee. Be firm but respectful making the case for what you were told. Remember that lead time is part of the equation for trade power while TDI is only a part of the calculation. I don't see which week you actually booked. If it's around 4th of July and they won't change it for free, I wouldn't do so. If it's week 13, I'd change it even for the fee because you'll get an extra half a year that the deposit will be good.

It’s 4th July and week 13 Easter week.

This is always a gamble. Ultimately it comes down to what you're trying to get including resort/size and demand, how flexible you are. IMO the question is more broad as it includes the week reserved and the possibility of depositing the 2 BR rather than locking off. For high demand resorts and times using the usual traders (Platinum), high demand resorts during peak times will likely require the 2 BR as well as reserving a top week, depositing and least 12 months out and requesting at least 12-13 months out. I'd suggest you decide what you are trying for before reserving and depositing if possible. For places like Branson, LV, Orlando and Williamsburg' a good studio should do the trick. For HHI during mid summer, you'll likely need the full 2 BR to give a good chance of success but a 1BR might do it if you have some flexibility.

I guess it depends on how you'll use it and what/when you're trying for. I'd have done both 4th of July week or a higher TDI in the fall to have the extra time. You'll have to decide for yourself what you want to do. Don't forget EACH change has the fee.

That’s a good guide. I got weeks 20-23 when I split the two weeks in 2024 so all should’ve been 130 TDI. I’ll try the full 2br 2025 deposit for a platinum MGO attempt. Thank you!

I am new to locking off with Marriott and depositing into interval. I did not realize that you can book the 2 bedroom and the ask for it to be locked off. I thought you have to book separately so was just trying different dates now I know . Plus going forward I need to book one week in July at 13 months so I can get my week 33 at MOW.

Booking a 2 BR and locking off later is not a guaranteed option. Plus no reason to do so if you know you want to lock off. It would offer you no benefits and provide no savings. In your situation I'd just lock it off and book the studio to help with the 13 month option doing consecutive weeks. Then book the 1BR the best week that works for you. I'd do week 24 rather than trying to do Easter or Spring break since these are variable but keep an eye on the TDI as it could change.

Las Vegas is different so don't get excited by Interval's TDI's - all of our other timeshares have low and high TDI's reflective of a season, holiday, etc. Grand Chateau TDI's are in a small band from 110 to 135 with an outlier 150 for week 52. And remember, 51 of the GC weeks were sold originally as Platinum weeks.

So I went to deposit my weeks on interval and it has listed 2023 and 2024 but my usage is supposed to start 2024. Anyone have any ideas?

Those are just placeholders. II doesn't know when your usage starts. You won't be able to deposit with the 2023 unit as Marriott will not verify the deposit.

mine showed 2023 when my first use year was 2024. They only apply if you have a confirmation number to go with it
