I booked for the MGV in Orlando for Spring Break. I booked the on-site golf academy for two nights. Wondering if anybody has any insights for me on the golf school?

I am also planning to bring my golf clubs. Wondering if I could use the driving range at the golf course for some practice before the academy?

Their practice facility is top notch. We used to go there for two weeks every March and I would use their facility daily. I took I think a two day school on one trip. It wasn’t an earth shaking experience but if there is something you really need help with it is worth the money. There is a short game area and two driving ranges, one very large and one smaller and more secluded. I also paid for a fitting on one trip that was well worth the money. But, if you are considering a fitting I suggest you call and reserve the time before you get there. Only one fitter and he seems to always be booked with either repairs or fittings. You will definitely enjoy your time there.

When my Son was 13 or so and showed interest in golf I enrolled him in Marriott's Golf Academy at Lake of the Ozarks, MO. I'm not sure but I think it was a 5 day thing. We lived in Dallas at the time and although my Wife was apoplectic about leaving him there with a bunch of older business men we did it. Bottom line is that it worked out great, He loved it, actually made friends and learned the right way. He is now 42 and plays when he can but still shoots in the mid 70s...

I have played the course a few times. It's mostly par 3's and generally in very good shape. It is often on golfnow.

The first tee is near the driving range, etc.

That being said, I don't know any details about the Academy---sorry.
