We received a notice to pay the taxes for Frenchmans Cove. Soon after we received the noticed I believe I received a notice or saw somewhere not to pay the taxes. Now i can't find where I saw not to pay it. Has anyone payed the Frenchmans cove taxes. I am wondering what we should do with these taxes.

The USVI has some tax assessment problems that are not yet worked out. One of the problems is billing the first owners at FC before the resort was open. I don't know how its going to work out but it's certainly going to be a large bill if they keep delaying it. the following link provides more info and contacts.

How will this work for resales? If I buy resale today will I be on the hook for the prior owners tax bill from before my purchase?

Yes, you likely will be on the hook. Generally, when you purchase real estate, you become subject to whatever liens or debts attach to that property.

I agree that I will owe the taxes. But I thought I saw something from Marriott about waiting to pay it until things get settled. Now I can't find where I saw that. I want to make sure I don't get a penalty.

Yes, you likely did see something. See the first post in the thread linked in the first response to your initial post in this thread.
