I wish to trade (week after 4th of July) my Marriott Branson 1 bedroom (the part with the kitchen, I have already locked of the other studio bedroom and traded for a week in Aruba) for a week at the Marriott Boston Custom House in the fall.

I notice that in II , there do not seem to be may weeks at MCU ever available.

I have 2 questions:
1. Does a week at MCU in the fall ever become available for trade?
2. Does my Marriott Branson unit have a chance to trade for a week at MCU , if one ever opens up? I have a request in to II now.

If the answers are no, I need to make other plans for lodging in Boston for next Sept/Oct.

Thanks in advance for your help.
This BBS is very helpful.

We have traded in with a non marriott in the spring. So with a marriott trader, you should be able to get a trade in the fall.

If you are looking at October, there's virtually no chance. However, if you are looking at November, it's better. Late September through mid-October is usually the season for fall colors, and demand for Custom House goes through the roof. It's almost impossible to trade into Custom House during fall color season, even with another super high demand trader, such as another Custom House unit. It's even less possible with a low demand unit like a Banson unit. On the other hand, demand for Custom House falls off during late November, when it starts to get cold, and it's fairly easy to trade in between late November and February.

I've never seen Custom House as being available when doing online searches. However, when I did a deposit first and requested Custom House, along with other acceptable exchanges, we had no problem pulling Custom House for our May vacation. I've never attempted to exchange into this area in the fall so I have no informed comment on the difficulty of that season.

If I were you, I'd make my request through I.I. and, if I had to be there at a certain time I'd reserve hotel rooms that can be cancelled without penalty. I would NOT use a web site that required the entire trip be paid in advance as they generally have cancellation fee's.

Agree with Hoc. As a Massachusetts native October is leaf peeping season and high in demand in the Northeast. I would book a hotel without cancellation penalties as a backup through the hotel website. I know Marriott hotels can be canceled by 6 pm same day without recourse. Just so you know parking in Boston is $30-$40 per day at most places.

We got a fall Custom House exchange

We snagged the first week of October on an exchange in 2007. I can't remember exactly what we used (but it was a 1 bedroom Marriott). I recommend booking ahotel as others suggested for backup, and then put your request into II as quickly as possible and ride it out. You never know what may happen.

Best to park out of town at a lot along the "L" and take the L into the city. That saves you about $25-$30 a day.

Actually, it is not the "L" you take, but it is the MBTA which is commonly referred to as the "T".

You can park and ride at various T facilities on the outskirts of the City of Boston, such as Braintree, Quincy, Riverside in Newton, Alewife in Cambridge, and Oak Grove in Malden.

By doing so you will be saving a lot in parking expenses by not having to park in the City of Boston itself.
