I own and use 2 weeks at Marriott Mountainside this year I split the units and will be staying for 28 nights this January and February. I’m curious if these nights will count towards my Marriott Bonvoy status. Does anyone know if I’ll get credit for all 28 nights, or if there are any specific rules for timeshare stays?

Also, I’m considering getting the Marriott Bonvoy Business credit card, which I know comes with Gold status. Any tips on how this might work together with my timeshare stays for earning nights?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

As long as your stays are consecutive, you would get the Elite Night Credits. If you get the credit card, then it would add an additional 15 nights to your Bonvoy account for 2025 putting you at 43. It won't put you over Platinum, but another stay in a Marriott, Westin or Sheraton timeshare would.

This may be obvious, but of course make sure that your Marriott Bonvoy number is attached to your timeshare reservation. I add a reservation to my Bonvoy account ahead of time, and verify at check-in that the resort has my number.

You would get 15 elite nights credit from the Bonvoy Business card, so you'd be at 43 nights after these stays. 7 more would get you to platinum.
Don't think status helps much for timeshare stays, but definitely getting to platinum is likely to result in upgrades for non timeshare hotel stays

The nights are in two weeks with 2 lockoffs and 2 one bedrooms over two weeks. That would be 28 nights. with the 25 Nights that would be 53?

So you are only staying for 14 nights?

There are 4 separate reservations for 7 nights each. 2 1 bedroom units and 2 lockoffs. This is at Marriott Mountainside.

As far as I know, the two Bonvoy business credit cards (from Chase and American Express) only give you 15 Elite Night Credits per year. I think only the Bonvoy Brilliant from American Express gives 25 Elite Night Credits.

Dioxide is correct that only brilliant gives you 25 night credit. If you have a personal and business credit card they combine. So if you have Marriott Amex business credit card you would get 15 night credit and an Amex brilliant would give you 25 night credit for a total of 40 night credit.

Holding two personal cards that award the 15 night credit, those nights are not combinable. You only get one 15 night credit.

Gold status doesn’t give you any special benefits on a timeshare stay (no late checkout for instance) But, holding the credit card does get you additional Marriott Bonvoy points on anything you charge at the resort. For instance, if you buy food and drinks at the resort and use your Bonvoy Business card to pay for them, you’d get 6 Marriott points for every dollar spent. That can add up over a four week stay! We use those Bonvoy points to expand our vacation options. That’s when the gold benefits - such as free breakfast and late checkout - come into play. You’ll also want to use your card to pay your MF.

We spent a week at Summitwatch and a week at Mountainside this fall. I absolutely loved both properties! Envious of your winter stay! Enjoy!

Do the dates overlap? You can only earn 1 ENC per day. So if you have 2 separate reservations for the same week you will only earn 7 ENCs for that week- not 14.

If each reservation is for consecutive dates, not concurrent then you would earn 1 ENC for each day you stay.

Well, it looks like I’ll only get 14 nights then thank you for the input maybe next year we’ll stay for the full four weeks

If you have a spouse or adult child or someone else you would like to earn the ENCs you can list someone else on the second reservation so they would earn the ENCs by changing the Bonvoy # attached.

I wouldn't expect much. I am lifetime titanium with Marriott and it's fine but it's not like amazing stuff happens. Free breakfast often, lounge access, etc... but it's not worth much and, as others have noted, you get nothing at MVC. In the old days we'd get a free all-you-can drink cup which was nice.

Thanks, I did a deeper look at status today and it’s like you said. Not much, maybe a free breakfast once and a while.

You will consistently get the free breakfast at Marriott hotels and not much else.

And lounge access at Marriott brand hotels that still have them. In Europe and Asia the lounges are good to great. Just ok in the united states and canada.

Even free breakfast is questionable. We've seen the offerings anywhere from a free full buffet to just free continental from the buffet with an upcharge to full buffet to just a $15 credit toward breakfast. We've paid as much as $40 for two people for a "free" breakfast because we upgraded to full buffet.

By far the best free breakfast we have come across in the USA is Camelback Inn in Scottsdale.

I initially got interested in Marriott status through my timeshare points and credit card perks because I was hoping it would lead to those aspirational, high-end stays we see so often in videos. But after looking into it more, I’m realizing that getting there will take years and might end up being more trouble (and cost) than it’s worth.

The perks that come with mid-tier status from credit cards, like Marriott Gold, are nice but aren’t enough to unlock the kind of luxury stays I was aiming for. The real value seems to come from top-tier status or a large bank of points, which can be tough to accumulate without a significant time and points commitment.

I will put my efforts into airline miles and status with the goal of business class travel on points for long hall flights across water to Europe, and Asia.

Platinum status and above is the sweet spot for the "free" breakfast benefits and the lounge access, plus the 50% earning bonus. Titanium slightly better with the 75% earning bonus, the extra status with United and now Air Canada, and the 75-night choice award of a FNA.

I will never hit Ambassador as I can't come close to the spend requirement; but based on most reviews I read from people it isn't really worth it with added perks beyond Titanium, with Ambassador service being very hit or miss and properties often declining Your24 requests.

Platinum Plus is good for United Silver but no longer easy to get. Any hack idea?
