I have been trying to put my finger on a few things regarding Marriott’s inventory release for points reservations. In June I was able to get a week using points at Grande Ocean at the 13 month reservation window for July 3, 2021. I really wanted July 2nd, but it wasn’t available. I figured I’d try at the 12 month reservation window. What was significant to me was I made that 13 month reservation at 11 pm the day the BEFORE the inventory was supposed to be released using Marriott’s “When Can I Reserve” Page.
Fast forward to the 12 month window to try and either get one night to check in on July 2nd instead of July 3rd. First, the inventory was supposed to be released on July 3rd according to Marriott’s webpage. However, I just happened to look today July 2nd at around 4:15 pm EST and lo and behold I see August 2021 pop up and when I look, July 2, 3, and 4 are available for reservations. I quickly made another 7 day points reservation for my ideal date of July 2nd. I’m not sure what time the reservation window opened. I noticed later that a TUG member sent me a message letting me know that the inventory opened and his message was two hours prior to me making my reservation.
Now I have noticed there are people here who yesterday were saying they can’t get weeks or points reservations at Grande Ocean in Hilton Head. I’m letting you know that the 12 month points reservation window for Grande Ocean and other HHI resorts are open for July 2, 3, and 4 for a 7 night stay from what I’ve seen and checked hourly. It’s now 4 a.m. EST.
What I find interesting is that as of now you can only make 5, 7, 8, & 9 night stays at Grande Ocean. I’ve tried all of those several times throughout the day and night. I haven’t tried the other resorts on Hilton Head for this.
Also, I cannot understand Marriott’s releasing of inventory. Why say it’s one day and it’s not that day. If you’re going to place a mechanism on your page to calculate when people are able to reserve then follow through with it. I believe this may be one possible reason people say they call at 9:00 am and there’s no inventory to make reservations on the first day it’s supposed to be released.
Just an observation.
