Kudos to the reporter and Marketwatch! An excellent article. Right to the point. Should be reposted, reprinted wherever allowed to educate uninformed owners, especially retired folks on a fixed income, as to the proper methods to dispose an undesired TS.

Wish I had known about TUG before our purchase back in 1997šŸ˜‚. To give everyone a chuckle my dh &I attended a home improvement show yesterday and was approached by a Wyndom salesperson offering me a ā€œfreebie ā€œ to which I nicely replied ā€œno thanksā€ and he got aggressive & snarky saying ā€œyou don’t like freebies ā€œ and rolled his eyes at me. I replied ā€no thank you I know all I need to know and don’t need your freebieā€.

Lol, I got taken for a gutter quote. All I wanted was some idea how much it might cost, instead, I got a multi hour sales pitch for gutters like a timeshare sales pitch. The cost was just insanely high, so I said no thanks.

Leaf Filter, by chance? They can be very persistent.

back then, the internet was in its infancy and the platforms through which a site like the one we are now using did not exist. Brian's late dad along with other gifted and visionary owners and advocates started a "Bulletin Board" format (all text, no graphics) where registered users could exchange ideas, ask questions, It worked pretty well, considering everyone but enterprise users were using little dial-up devices through which to access their IPs. So, most owners at that time bought from developers. Even sophisticated shoppers and knowledgeable consumers were truly naĆÆve to the behavioral sales tactics used very effectively by the sales force.
