Hello,
We own 2 Platinum weeks @ Marriott Ocean Pointe.
We are thinking of staying an extra week in March, 2012 & considering The Marriott Singer Island Resort and Spa.

Have you stayed there? In the photos, the pool area looks really small. Do they have beach chairs/bar service on the beach?

Any comments?

I know...maybe we shd buy a 3rd week @ OP!!

Anybody?
Even if you have not stayed there....maybe you stopped by for dinner or for a visit? Or, know somebody who has information about The Marriott Singer Island Resort and Spa.

We had dinner there when the dining room was called Solu. Now it is 3800 Ocean or something weird like that. We did not see much beyond the dining room and lobby. And, it was dark so we could not see the beach area.

Have not seen it yet, but will be at OP the last week of march and my SIL/BIL will be staying at the Marriott Singer Island Resort.

All I know at this point is they charge a $20.00 a day fee for parking.

Took my wife there for a spa treatment when we stayed at oceana palms and I was very impressed by what I saw when walking around the grounds while waiting for her.

Brian, I wonder if you cld post back after you have checked in tomorrow?(Feb 20)

Did you get a 1BR or 2BR?
Oceanview or "Ocean facing" ( does that mean "Oceanfront"?)
I am considering a 1BR, "Oceanview". I called & said that I wanted oceanfront. They did not even mention "oceanfacing" but I saw that in their online description after I had called.

Hope everyone doesn't go to sleep at 8:00 at the hotel also. :ignore:

You have a good memory. I'm facing the Lagoon pool and tonight the music stopped, the waterfall was turned off, lighting off, and everybody left...at 8 p.m. No kidding (although it was open about an hour later last night). Must be a Singer Island thing. :)

There are two pools...a large Lagoon pool with water slides and waterfall at the front of the building over the garage. The 'adult' pool closer to the ocean is rectangular about the size of the pool at Beach Place. Nothing like OP's pools.

I used 120,000 MR points for a 5 night stay in a 1 bdrm suite (separate bedroom) and didn't pay an upgrade fee in order to see what view my platinum status would get...the answer is not much other than the wine/cheese platter gift...I got Lagoon Pool side but the palm trees blocked most of the view. I missed the BeachPlace view.

Decor is much higher level than Marriott timeshare fare. It even has a Bose speaker system for the HDTV that plays DVDs too. Daily maid service as well as nightly turndown. A ton of tempting mini bar stuff so be careful. Room service reasonably priced...American Breakfast only $9, pancakes only $7, delivered in minutes and hot. Dining room is nice with good view. Must use valet parking. Bathroom nicely set up with modern soaker tub and separate shower. Toilet also separate. Kitchen appliances top notch.

Beach was full of seaweed, but water was rough today and there didn't seem to be any service picking it up when we went for a Beach walk. I've never seen Beach Place's beach full of seaweed like this. There are so many condo's on Singer Island now and they block views of the water...too bad. Lots of construction. You need a car...not much around for shopping or dining.

Went to Entre Nous dining last night for price fixed dinners for $25. Was good, and full, and they are iDine members giving 10 FF miles per dollar.

I guess I'm back to having to make my own beds next week...and no room service. :(

Brian

Brian, thanks for your comments.
Sounds very nice.
Does the pool area get crowded?
Do they have lounge chairs set up on the beach and bar service on the beach?

Are you going to Clematis Street tonight?(Thursday). Is the water taxi from Sailfish Marina dock to Clematis St on Thursday nights up running again?

How's the weather?
