So we bought last weekend. The two salespeople we worked with seemed quite upfront and friendly, and for "the most part" indeed were. When we got home, I started looking at the points (luckily we got home the next day and it was bought in TN, so 10 days) and had already found TUG.
The sticky wicket is I was asking specific questions. They were saying our points would get us 2-3 full weeks in the off season (easy work schedule and homeschooling means we actually like the off season). Since we don't generally stay Friday/Saturday, that meant an extra vacation or two. We were shown points amounts from a tattered old book, I asked pointed questions, etc. etc.
This was *not* the case. The points in the book I received did not reflect what we were promised. After spending all day in the room, we didn't look at that.

Sooooo. We rescinded and I have the green return slip from it being accepted!

$23,374.00 saved. Thanks y'all!

Sounds like a new resort. Did they give a good incentive for the sales pitch? Where did they find you?

We live about 65 miles away so might try to get invited next time we're up there if it's worthwhile.

Thanks, Sheila

Congratulations, IronsKeeper and welcome to TUG! Since you liked the concept, you should hang around and learn a lot about timeshares from the folks here before you buy. As you learned from your presentation, being able to travel in the "off season" can make your vacation points/weeks go further. Good luck.

$150 gift card and $25 to any of six or eight restaurants on the Island- we went to breakfast at Paula Deen's kitchen and it was amazing and actually pretty cheap for two.
(The $25 was some sort of consultation for a reason I don't remember. The gift card was the standard base gift though).

We were in Gatlinburg and there are two "free money" agent shops about a quarter of a mile from the SkyLift/SkyBridge building. Same side of the road, directly across from Gatlin Mini Golf.
There are two places, might see who has the better deal.

We also got a free RCI week certificate but that was part of the timeshare deal, so my understanding from reading here on TUG is that week is now void as well.

Absolutely. I think we are going to cool off and pay down more debt, so that we can budget the maintenance fees for what we actually want.

Thanks for the info. We never go any closer to Gatlinburg that Dollywood, so we probably won't run into the bookers.

We haven't been to the Island since Paula Deen's opened. We'll have to give it a try. The Apple Barn is our go-to restaurant when we eat up there, but usually we're just in and out.
