I've just returned from the Marbella Beach Resort, where units are currently undergoing refurbishment.

Our owner October email update stated "Quite a lot will be going on over the next five to six months as a major refurbishment programme is scheduled. Refurbishment of soft furnishings, painting of interiors, installation of new televisions, together with new housings, in the living room, new lights in the lounge and bedrooms and installation of up to date Smoke Detectors will be the most obvious inside, with some road repairs and some exterior painting the most obvious outside."

As an owner and regular guest, I was looking forward to check out the improvements and enquired about progress at check in. I was told that the refurb in building 10 was complete and that they're now working on buildings 11 and 12.

I've attached two photos of the living area. The changes are more evolutionary than revolutionary - I guess they've tried to keep costs under control by keeping as much of the old furniture as possible. The new curtain and carpet stand out and it's nice to have the old couch finally replaced. The larger TV (with conveniently located HDMI and USB ports) is another nice improvement.

in high season there are some areas of the resorts I'd avoid due to noise but in November this won't be a problem.

Buildings 40, 30, 20 and 10 are more popular because they're closer to the beach and tend to have better sea views. However, the indoor heated pool (and fitness center) are at the opposite end of the resort.

Another consideration is do you prefer the morning or afternoon sun - buildings 4x and 2x get the afternoon sun, 3x and 1x the morning sun. Note buildings 50, 41 and 40 don't have underground parking.

Thanks for sharing this information. Our preference will be sea views, but not being owners at the resort may land us elsewhere. I'll submit a request and hope for the best.

Best regards.

Am unsure what I think of this new retro design. Lilac sofa - going to get dirty quickly. The light above dining table is horrible IMO. Dining table and other wooden stuff not replaced but that's fine.

Hope Playa doesn't lose its Spanish charm once it goes through refurb. Feel Marbella has def lost it.
