For a good description of OP reservations request priorities, go here: http://www.vacationclub.com/resorts/ps/resortRequests.jsp

Don't know what your home resort is. If it is not a MVCI resort, you will be at the bottom of the priority list when it comes to requesting a unit.

Particularly during the Platinum season, owner usage tends to be so high that there is a yearly rotation of the prime units even among the owners. Marriott does keep track of such things :)

I happened to be staying there in mid January. For laughs, I checked to see what the rental rate was on the units. Besides the high rates, the other thing I noted was a specific comment that only lower floor rentals were available.

Personally, I prefer the dophin and sailfish buildings as they are closest to the lobby and Marketplace convenience store.

As mentioned, Marriott has a pecking order with exchangers from outside the Marriott system towards the bottom. Platinum season is particularly high owner occupancy so you're likely to end up with a first floor room to the back of the building. The good news is these are still very nice units IMO. The very first time we stayed at OP was as an exchanger in a first floor unit at the very back of the building. We were impressed enough that we became owners.

This is a link to our photo's from our trips to OP. The first room photo's are of that first floor room and it's view. http://community.webshots.com/album/189441756DFDsxn
