Manuka Honey and healing properties

Has anyone bought this honey from New Zealand and does it help acid reflux and other afflicitions. I know it is suppossed to have an active ingredient UMF of a certain #. It is not inexpensive so I want to ask before I buy it.

I know Whole Foods carries it. Is there anywhere else one can get this besides the internet?

My husband cured his periodontal problems with manuka honey. It took quite a while (like 7 or 8 months) but he had the periodontal problems for years and used the honey with only lukewarm hope that it might help. We bought ours at a local food co-op. It was pricey, I think about $50 for a one-lb jar. The important thing was to be sure you get the most highly bioactive variety. Some have very little.

I can't remember where I got it, but it was cheaper than $50 a jar. I have used it for severe GERD and it totally helped. I have also used it to heal external cuts.

Based on this thread, I ordered some of the honey from someone on eBay. It certainly sounds as if it's worth a try. Some of the testimonials are pretty impressive. Of course, I'm easily impressed!
