Hauling out my soapbox to ask that please, please, please, if you don't have a reason not to, think about and take the time to become an organ donor.

Take a visit to a dialysis clinic if you need convincing- the young folks in their teens and twenties are the hardest to accept. Hubby's estimated time would have been 10 years from when he started dialysis to work his way up the list - he's no longer eligible for a transplant but there are so many people with so much life that could be lengthened, improved or both by transplants of various body parts.

Thanks for listening.

My 19-year-old niece passed away three weeks ago. The only bright spot in all of this is that she had self-designated as an organ donor. They were able to make seven matches with her organs. In addition to saving seven lives, it's also brought some measure of peace to the family.

I decided to sign up as a bone marrow donor and just submitted my sample for matching. I can never equal my niece's gift to others, but I'd love to help someone in need if I'm a match.

What a tear-jerker, but beautiful.
And I'm an organ donor, if they can use any of my left-over parts.
