This is our third day off from school due to snow days and it has dropped over 3 feet of snow in 3 days. It stopped yesterday and I was able to get down the hill to a doctor's appt., but it started again last night. Very beautiful, but how we are going to dig out, when both of us have back problems, I'm not sure. Less snow than this and we park Sam's trunk behind mine and then wait till it melts. He tried to go to work and couldn't get back, so I'm not sure I can get my car out at all. Hopefully, tomorrow will also be a snow day to dig out.

Liz - the first place we lived after we were married was in Blue Jay. We moved there in July of 1974. It was a 2-story mountain cabin.

Our landlord showed us pictures of the house from the previous winter. The house was buried to the eaves in snow. The previous tenants had exited the house through the bedroom window on the second floor. The landlord said that entire amount of snow accumulated in less than one week.

There's your water for next summer. :)

My DS and his wife are driving from San Diego to Salt Lake City tomorrow. I am worried about the storms. Hope they will be okay.

We have a 5 day vacation for "snow days", the most I can remember in a row in the 23 years I've worked for the school district here. There is even 2-3 feet of snow in the high desert. Today, getting to my car to get some of the snow off was like being a little kid in NY State again, snow over my waist!

Still waiting for DS and DIL to arrive. It's 9 p.m.MST and they left San Diego at 3 a.m. PST. Took them 6 hours just to get to Apple Valley and 11 hours to get to Vegas due to the 15 shutdown.

We skiers in Western MA are looking forward to 6 to 18 inches between tomorrow morning and Saturday morning. Then another foot or so on Sunday. Of course, I have a flight out of Hartford, the closest airport, to DFW at 1:25pm Friday. I'm going to work and getting canceled or delayed will really screw me... ughhh. Here's hoping the storm slows down a bit overnight and lets me out on time tomorrow!

Anyone in Dallas/Ft. Worth area who can tell me what to expect over the next 5 days weather-wise? I have, of course, checked the internet, but so often it's so wrong!
