Probably quite a few since the new Florida law for condos (including timeshares) over 3 stories must not only have building engineer inspections, but show they have sufficient money in their reserves. Deficiencies in that 2nd part is resulting in big maintenance fee jumps for many folks.
Our timeshare in St. Augustine Beach (RCI #0890) has always had good reserves and in our over 40 years of ownership we have had 1 special assessment (equal to the same years maintenance fee) to cover repairs from a hurricane that insurance didn't cover all of, and that was about 30-35 years ago. We did just have a big jump (about $200.) in annual maintenance fees this year but the biggest part of that was a spike in insurance premiums and second, the cost of supplies (cleaning, activities...).
