Which resorts have the lowest MF? I looking at some resort on ebay and the resorts in hawaii have very low yearly rates. Should I call the resorts to check what the rates actually is? If they "misquote" the MF then you should be able to cancel the ebay contact, right?
some ebay sales require you to pay the 2008 MF. 2008 is almost over....is this a red flag?

There is a spreadsheet floating around here, but I think the some of the cheaper ones (off the top of my head) are Williamsburg, Smokey Mountains and Fairfield Mountains.

Be careful. Some eBay sellers quote the annual rate for a biennial timeshare. That is, if the MF is $950 every other year, you might see "MFs are only $475."

And sometimes sellers will quote old MF rates. If in doubt, call the resort with the unit number and week being sold, ask specific questions (especially regarding views or oceanfront status, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, etc.) They can tell you the truth, not the sometimes-inflated or exaggerated number eBay sellers state.

I don't know whether you can bail out on a deal if the seller quotes the wrong pricing, since you'll get all that in paperwork from the escrow company before the end of the deal anyway. But no eBay timeshare deal is binding - you can walk away from anything, if you want to badly enough.

Err on the side of caution, and do your due diligence before bidding. It'll save you a lot of hassle later on.

Good luck!

Not necessarily a red flag. If you can use the week this year then you just start using your timeshare vacation a year early. If it's a floating week, you could ask the current owner to reserve a week for you since it may take a couple of months to do the closing. You could also have the current owner put the reservation in your name if it's a fixed week. However if you are planning to exchange the week, be advised that it will most likely have very low trading power.

With Wyndham, it is most likely points. I don't know much about points but I think there is some way to roll them over. I'm sure someone here will be telling you about how to use those points.

The 2008 points might be 10/1//08-9/30/09 in which case you would have full use of them. Even 7/1 points are pretty reasonable as you can use them for May and June 2009 10 month out reservations.

1/1 points will be pretty useless as the 10 month window is long gone.
