How do you figure out the cost per thousand for maintenance fees. I think I read this before but I can not find it. Also, does anyone know the cost for the DC points? Are the DC points fees higher than most weeks?
Thanks,

Thanks,

I think DC club maintenance fees are $.40 per 1,000 points if I recall correctly. That basically means Hawaii-level maintenance fees system wide as it is $3,220 for 8,050 points, which is about what 2 weeks in a mountain view at Ko Olina is worth.

I don't think any Marriott MF's are priced "per thousand?" For Weeks they're established by the individual resort BOD/HOA - here's the current 2012 MF thread.

Here's a recent thread with Nov '11 pricing for the DC - Points cost $10.94 each and MF's on those are .41 per Point.

If you compare ownership of a Week and its corresponding MF's to the equivalent DC Trust Points, I'm pretty sure it's a given that MF's are overall higher for the points. Exceptions might be the lowest-demand intervals but in order to use purchased Trust Points for those intervals you would still have to purchase the minimum number of Points - 1,500 for new owners and 1,000 for existing Weeks owners - to get into that system.

I'm actually a little bit confused by your post, seeing under your name that you own a Week, so I'll add this just in case - Weeks Owners who enroll their Week(s) into the DC and don't purchase additional Trust Points, do not pay MF based on the Points they're allotted. They still pay based on the MF's set by the individual resorts for their Week(s) but in addition to that they pay the $165/$199 annual Club Dues.

I thought that the DC maint fees were $0.41 per point or $410.00 per 1000 points.

I guess this post proves how much faster at typing Sue is that I am!

I was just wondering how my maintenance fee compared to others. I know I pay the weeks fee as usual, but I thought there was a thread somewhere that told you how to figure out your maintenance fee per thousand. Sorry if I confused you. I did not enroll in the DC and I don't plan on it seeing I only own one week and it is not a lock off.

Ah, then that first link to the 2012 MF thread will help you compare yours to the other resorts.

Please don't apologize for confusing me, it's fairly easy to do. Every time I think that there's an easy answer to someone's question and start writing, it occurs to me, "but what about ...?" or "but what if ...?" and I go off on tangents. Less is more - I try to remember that but sometimes it's hopeless. :D

(I can't remember anything about "MF per thousand" in a thread and the search functions for both TUG and google have been acting up lately. If you can think of anything else that may have been in that thread we might be able to narrow it down.)

Maybe so, but you've got that Less Is More down pat, don't you?
