Hi. We stayed at the HGVC Waikoloa property for 5 nights over xmas. I was expecting to not have maid service, yet they came daily! (nice touch) I'm wondering if this is typical at the resorts? I thought I read that they came mid-week, so it was a nice surprise.

Something similar happened to us at Marbrisa over New Year's on a six night stay. We were gone most of the day and came back to the unit to find that the security lock was engaged so that the door was partly open - in other words - unlocked! Since I do this a lot when I'm only stepping out of the room with someone still inside, my heart went to my throat as I was thinking that either someone was in our room without authorization, or I had left the door unlocked all day! It turn out it was the housekeeper cleaning our room. I was really shocked since I didn't expect it on a less than seven-day stay. Anyway, no complaints with extra, unexpected service.

Generally, for less than a week you don't get housekeeping. For a week, you get a midweek cleaning.

Was it a cash stay? If so, cash guests receive daily maid service just like a hotel stay.
