My sister & husband will be RVing in the Bradenton area so I was looking on RCI for a timeshare in that area so that I can spend some time with them. I now have a hold on a 1 BR at the Commodore Beach Club in Madeira Beach for President's Week. The TUG reviews are 6 years old but Trip Advisor reviews are more current and are generally good. It sounds like the units have been recently renovated. I enjoyed the John's Pass area the last time we drove through. Does anybody have any current information on the timeshare units?

When we stayed there we had a 1st floor 1 bedroom (2/4) facing the pool. The living room was small. If we had someone else with us they would use the pullout bed to sleep on. Anyone having to use the restroom in the middle of the night would have to walk across the pull out bed to get to it.

Thanks Don for your input. I decided to pass on this resort and will keep looking for something nicer and closer to their RV park. They are staying in various locations in Florida for 3 months so hopefully our paths will cross at some point!

I live about 5 to 8 mi from the 2 RV courts -which I think you are referring to..if they are on that peninsular that juts into the Gulf right near town of Cortez. I am unable to scare up anything in the area.. Have stayed on Treasure Is. self - (it seems a bit far to go back & forth from) St. Pete area is MUCH closer -like 'st. petes Beach. There is a great resort called Tradewinds with (some timeshare units) but mainly glorified hotel -at the side is a connected business called Guy Harvey Outpost..where they have the biggest aquarium tank in their restaurant that one is dwarfed by creatures like beluga whales, etc Look into Tredewinds it is run by blue green, and has had rentals advertised on redweek.

If all fails -cont make a mistake and try Tampa...no T/S except one that caters to non-straights.

My fav resort in Johns Pass area is All Seasons - but they are all 2 bdroom. 1 pool. Bubba Gump and a very good busline going into St Pete proper.

I hope you don't mind.. but unless you can get a rm at the Holiday Inn on Coertz, you would be traveling a long way back and forth. I have not looked, but maybe a Hampton Inn exists around here, as the HOL. iNN doesn't give free bkfsts like the H. Inn EXPRESS and the Hampton do.

Good Luck .. Am sending off a PM to you too. Curious how far North you live, and if you are flying or driving self.. Cheers- Bev Hook:p

there is a timeshare south of Tampa, on the bay, called Inn at Little Harbor in Ruskin, and the units are quite nice. about half an hour from Bradenton on 41.

Another avenue to persue

Have you ever thought of using airbnb.com to lineup time wherever your sister IS at a given time. Try it -- I have been looking at it for over 2 yrs. and had once used them in Oahu to fill in the 'gap' between T/S week and flight back.

You will have better luck at this time... to call up the location..Lakewood Ranch or Sarasota (airport area). You'll see some very near Highway 75 and rte 70. Be sure to keep altering the checkin dates to "see" real availability. I tried to email you via priv. message --2 good ones, but couldnt get them to you w/o email addy. BEV
