Anyone here use their timeshares to attend LPGA (womens' golf, in case you are wondering) tournaments? I'm usually at around 9 of them. Volunteering at them keeps me from playing, but the tour is a great place to meet people.

We had attended ANA Inspiration for 2 years, staying at Westin Mission Hills and Marriott's Desert Springs. This year we will be attending the Founders Cup but staying in a hotel. My husband deeply dislikes Marriott's Canyon Villas and refuses to stay there even though the tournament is right next door. I could only book the small 1BR at Westin Kierland but my husband only wants the 1BR Premium.

Where do you stay when you volunteer at the 9 events and which 9?

I loved my Westins but gave them up this year as the MFs are too high. I'll miss golfing at Westin Mission Hills then walking over to the ANA. Kierland is a great resort and golf course... getting bagpiped in while playing the last 3 holes then walking off the green into the whiskey tasting room... the best.

I'm mostly using Diamind Resorts now for the tourneys ... Nov until Feb for the 3 Florida tourneys, March-April for 3 or 4 of the AZ and CA tourneys, May for Williamsburg & Clearwater, October for Daytona Beach Symetra Tour Championship. When the Canadian Open is in Ontario i volunteer there as well.

I recently picked up on tug ts for the Scottsdale and Carlsbad tourneys.

Such an awesome tournament ... which Marriott did you stay at?

We pick the LPGA tournaments to attend based on whether there is a comfortable 18th green grandstand with free flow of food and drinks, hence ANA Inspiration. When I found out at the end of last year that Founders Cup has a similar setup I booked this year's event. We would get there first thing in the morning, walk 9 holes, head to the 18th green eat, drink and be merry ;), have lunch - eat, drink and be merry again, and then walk the back 9 holes and come back to the 18th green to watch players finishing up, and eat, drink and be merry again.

There is only one Marriott"s TS in Williamsburg and it is the Marriott's Manor Club at Ford Colony.

Awesome way to spend 4 days, isn't it! All the tourneys have the same. Some have 3 or 4 grandstands for different kinds of attendees. Usually i walk all day with pit stops for meals and then finish the last hour in the 18th tent... then home to the resort hot tub.

Carslbad has also a 16th green public grandstand that is fun. For every birdie then sell 2 for 1 drinks for 5 minutes lol.

That should be fun - 2 for 1 drinks for a birdie for 5 minutes. We do like the one charge for all free-flowing drinks and food though.

Definitely. The ANA was great for me, front row watching them try to come over the water in 2 .

The Diamond Resorts tourney next weekend is my favourite as the grandstand on 18 is so low you are basically putting along with them.

I like LPGA so much more than PGA because you are up close and personal. I have chatted with In Gee Chun and his coach, Won Park on the sideline. I also bumped into Ha Na Jang at the same hotel we were staying at and chatted with her. It is so much more personal than PGA. PGA tour you get drunks and 10 rows of heads in front of you.

Agree 100%! In Gee is always smiling and saying thank you as she passes fans. As do most of the LPGA pros. My volunteer work usually involves driving them around, airport or hotel sometimes to get takeout dinner. So much fun chatting with them and their mums, and we have a group that meetup for our Canadian golfers Brooke and Alena so thats always fun. Definitely a different atmosphere than the male pros.
