For those who want a talk-only, very low use phone service for $0, this may work. Includes some text but no data (well, 10MB, but that is really nothing).

If I read correctly, you will need a Sprint phone

You might also take a look at Ting

If you don't do a lot of texting, you might also take a look at Ting. Switching to Ting from Sprint has cut our phone bill in half, and we get twice the minutes per month.

after my contract expired and I was still ok with my existing phone, I was going to cancel with sprint and switch to a cheap local carrier. sprint offered an even cheaper (than they had advertised anywhere) plan for 45/mo to me. total bill is under 60 dollars and its unlimited text and data.

however 0 sure sounds like fun too!

There is also Google's new Project Fi service where they teamed up with both Sprint and TMo and.Wi-Fi calling - unlimited calling and text for $20 + $10/gb data prorated. This also includes calling, text and data while overseas...not too.bad.

Anyways, I just signed up for the RingPlus with a spare phone-just to try. $0 for 1000 mins talking, 1000 text and 1GB data per month...Just try things out.
