Anybody have any information on whether or not this is a scam?

The people contacting us are U.S. Brokers, but we are cautious, as we believe if something looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Thanks.

Mary

The biggest tell is if they want money up front to "assist" you in selling your timeshare.

This is basically a scam. There is nobody who needs to buy a Mexican timeshare for tax reasons. Ask yourself why you are the target for these calls, when there are literally thousands of timeshares available for free all over the place. Companies like this target unsuspecting folks. The next step is to ask you to prepay some fee, or tax lien, or brokerage fee, or some such. You pay it, and they disappear with your money. Don't fall into the trap. Read Tug and learn how to sell your timeshare yourself.

It's a total scam - this is how is usually works:

Sometime during the process (usually not upfront) they will ask you for a fee, that is necessary to complete the sale of your timeshare. They may call it: Mexican taxes, title search, escrow fee, sales tax, commission, or something else that sounds Legit.

They often say it will be refunded to you, and that it will be held in "escrow." They will even send you the name of a legitimate escrow company.

But once you are ready to send the fee, they will give you the directions to wire your money to their off-shore account, not to escrow, and they will steal your money and disappear.

There is no buyer - there never was - they are just scammers.

Thanks for your replies. Just confirms what we really knew. They have not requested any money until closing, then commission.

I will do further research here. Just found this site today.

That's what we get for a spontaneous purchase. :)

They won't request it upfront - they will wait until they have you hooked and then spring it on you. This is a very common scam - don't be fooled by the official looking documents they send you.
