Looking to switch to points at Barrier Island

I am scheduled for a timeshare presentation at Barrier Island next Saturday because I am looking into converting my current weeks there into RCI points .

My question is, if I purchase a Barrier Island unit on Ebay that has already been converted to points can I then add my original Barrier Island units to my points account. I know if I lease points I cannot PFD Barrier Island because they are a points resort.

Does anyone know if a Ebay converted would work or do I have to pay their $2,995 or what ever the amount is?

Thank you so much for all the help and guidance.

Doubtful

Although I'm not positive on your question, we also own a week at BI-KH and they have tried to get me to convert my week on two occasions. They want $2995 and won't budge on that amount, so therefore, we haven't converted to points. I pointed out to the salesman that I could purchase a points package there or anywhere else on the resale market for less money than their conversion fee, and he said "go ahead".
I believe if you buy a converted points week on the resale market, you will have a points account and a weeks account. They will probably try to "upgrade" you, but will charge a hefty fee. If they do allow converstion of your present week (for no extra money to them), I will be very shocked and also very interested, so please send me a pm.
I have a red early fall week and it trades fairly well with RCI and we often use half the lock out unit to get a 2, 3, or even 4 bedroom in the middle of the summer on trade with RCI.
Good luck.

I would figure that any "owners update" or "resort salesman" only collects a commission on a full purchase price ($2995) sale ... that is their function, to collect a commission.

Just my thoughts,

What week do you own? I own at BIS Duck (2) Weeks (1) RCI Points

I have a Summer Red and a Spring Blue in Weeks and 59,000 Points with an underlying Fall Red (week 38). I bought the points resort on eBay for less than the conversion amount you quoted. And that purchase was before the bottom fell out on the eBay timeshare prices. I would think long and hard before I would consider paying that or even attending their presentation. If the underlying week is a Summer Red week, I would keep it out of points and watch eBay for a good points purchase. But then, are you okay with being responsible for an additional maintenance fee each year?

Thank you, I did not think Barrier Island would allow that but I thought I would ask.

When I looked into it in 2006 they told me they would convert as many weeks as I had at BIS-Duck for one fee of 2995. So if you own 10 weeks it becomes a good deal....and you should see a doctor to address your timeshare addiction.
