Hello all!

I purchased this timeshare (paid in full, Week 15 biannual) with my now ex-husband in approximately 2008. My current husband and I have made some use of it in the past, but really have not been using it of late (the past say, 5 years) and are now looking to sell or just generally get out of the contract. Can anyone with more experience tell me what options we have?

Thank you!
Julie

List it, sell it, give it away. DO NOT sign up with ANY 'get out of your timeshare' upfront fee outfit. They'll take your money and you'll still own it.

Seriously, there is a sticky at the top of the Buying, Selling, Renting forum on How to Sell your Timeshare'. Start there.

It is possible that your TS company will accept a deed-back. Some do, some don't. There is also a Bargain Deals subforum where you can post to give it away. Just follow the general format you see there.

When you find a recipient for it there are TUGgers who will do the transfer of the deed at reasonable cost. www.lttransfers.com/

Good Luck

Thank you so much for your quick response. To clarify, I recently saw someone sell from the same company I own with (on here) state that the transfer fee is approximately $250 (per the resort) plus another $250 for the documentation done by LT Transfers and that we would likely get more interest if we also offer the maintenance fees covered for the upcoming year. Does that sound correct?

Everything is negotiable. The price, whether the transfer is paid by the seller or the buyer, the MF for the use year, whatever works. We've seen sellers offer buyers a gift card upon transfer. You name it.

Because sometimes the transfer takes months to get into new owners' names, (usually the fault of the resort or the county) a good perk is for a seller to book a week for the new owner during the process.
