Ok, I currently own a total of 280,000 points through Fairfield in two resorts, Bay and Sapphire Valley. I'm looking at an inexpensive every other year points package on Ebay for Bonnet Creek to add. If I purchase the every other year package, do I get the 13 month reservation power only every other year, or every year? (I plan on going to Bonnet Creek frequently). In other words is this a viable inexpensive way to get benefits into Bonnet Creek like letting me use the total of my points to get a Presidential Suite? Or could I only do this on the year of use I have at Bonnet Creek?

You can only use points deeded at that resort for ARP. Your 280K at other resorts can never be used for this purpose.

As an aside, the Presidentials do seem to get snapped up before Standard quite often, so that might be a really good reason to own here.

Maybe I worded my question poorly...

Ok, I have 280K pts if I were to purchase 168K more (every other year) at Bonnet creek, can I use the total 448K at the 13month point to book a Presidential?

Orlando is overbuilt and there are MANY other resorts besides Wyndham. Look at renting a great location in Orlando or Disney, instead of buying Bonnet Creek points.

The variety for your kids and their very changing interests - Disney this year, Universal next year, waterparks the year after, etc. Renting and getting a unit (or units) for grandparents, kid's friends, w/o too much trouble instead of reserving at the 13th month ARP, only to have to change reservations a month before checkin.

Or exchange into other resorts.

I too thought I would want an Orlando resort for family usage. The family prefers the beach (and gators, monkeys, the Keys, Elbo room, etc) much more so than amusement parks. And they basicly want the beach in February (greedy relatives from the land of ice and snow:ignore: ).;)

I own at Bonnet Creek, simply because I book a 4 bedroom presidential there every year...THAT sized unit I have not seen at any other resort I have visited prior to or thereafter owning at Bonnet Creek.

With that said, if you only require a 2 bedroom, Bonnet Creek is easy to get into without booking 13 months in advance. Also, I 2nd the fact that there are plenty, plenty of really nice FL resorts available for you to bank a 28K week with RCI and get with little or know effort. I have gotten to stay at quite a few other awesome resorts without booking at Bonnet Creek.

Answer to your question. You only have priority for booking 13 months in advance for the ACTUAL POINTS owned at that resort. Hence why I upgraded to Bonnet Creek because I needed enouph points to reserve my Presidential there. And for me ... going to Orlando every year that I can physically get there will happen, because I am a Disney addict and I plan all our trips :D . Now whether or not we will still need to book the presidential 4 br...definately...as my older 2 kids want their birthday parties there.

It really depends on when you are looking to go. During a holiday week? Pickings are slim no matter how far in advance you are looking. During September? Take your pick!

Also, for 28Ks to be maximally useful, you either need to be looking far in advance, or at the last minute.

To give you the best picture of what to expect, it would be helpful to know when you are planning to go.

But, there's no reason not to call with a search first right now, just to see whta they can give you. Remember to cancel it if you don't find anything you like---more than once I've had Wyndham leave a deposit in after I've cancelled it. I've gotten into the habit of writing down the time, date, and the name of the VC I speak with when I cancel.

Those 4BR Pres units are gorgeous - definitely a good reason to have a particular home resort. If staying one during all but the quietest seasons is a priority, then owning sufficient points for the desired reservation at that home resort is really necessary. Wyndham has these 4BR Pres units at several of their newer properties.

FL: Wyn Majestic Sun, Wyn Ocean Walk, Wyn Bonnet Creek, Wyn Palm-Aire
VA: Wyn Governors Green
SC: Wyn Ocean Blvd, Wyn SeaWatch, Wyn Ocean Ridge
NJ: Wyn Skyline Tower
WI: Wyn Inn at Glacier Canyon
TN: Wyn Smoky Mountains, Wyn @ FF Glade, Wyn Nashville
MO: Wyn Meadows, Wyn Mountain Vista
TX: Wyn La Cascada
CO: Wyn Pagosa
NV: Wyn Grand Desert
HI: Wyn Waikiki Beach Walk

We've seen a couple of these (Bonnet Creek, Ocean Walk, Smoky Mtns, Governors Green, Meadows) firsthand and every one of them has been nothing short of amazing, IMO, unique to the style of the resort and wonderfully done. Not sure if the newest sections in the Berkshires or Poconos will have these too but I'm guessing the new Wash DC and Las Vegas resorts will have them. Very tempted to book a short offseason stay in the 4BR at Smoky Mountains. :) Too bad they never appear on RCI - what a sighting that would be!

Jean, we've used 28K to trade into 2BRs at HGVC (last minute), Cypress Palms (bulk, good week!), Vistana Resort (very early search) and Cypress Point (early, good week). No harm in simply listing all of your acceptable selections and putting in an early ongoing search request.

Wyndham expansion in the Berkshires?

Does Wyndham have plans for more units in the Berkshires at Bentley Brook or in a new resort in the Berkshires? That would be great if they do!

Some other resorts outside of Wyndam are; Sheraton (both are nice), Vacation Village, Orange Lake, Marriott (there is one that is in RCI), but to be honest...there were not 1 resort that I stayed in FL that I haven't liked. However do you homework, check TUG reviews and tripadvisor.com reviews for the latest on resorts.
