My family and I are searching for a rental in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. We are a total of 8 people, 4 adults and 4 children.
We will be traveling to Florida from September 1st until September 6th.

I have been looking at either Wyndham Bonnet Creek or Marriott Harbour Lake, but am open to suggestions.

Assuming you're a member of Interval International, you're in luck. Every Orlando area Marriott resort has ample availability via ACCOMMODATION CERTIFICATE for 2 BRs for $399 plus tax. All sleeping 8. For eight days and seven nights but, of course, you can stay whatever days you like.

I assume you're in an area like New York or Boston which, because of the late date of Labor Day, will not be starting school until September 8.

If you're not a timeshare owner, no one can acquire such exchange for you and charge you money for it. That would be a violation of Interval International's rules that might cause the cancellation of your reservation as well as the termination of the rulebreaker's membership in II.

Another thing: If you're not already a timeshare owner, don't ever buy a timeshare as, for many people, it's the greatest regret of their lives.

On the other hand, there are so many rental houses and condos in the Orlando area, that even a 4 BR, 3 bath house would be less than $800 or so for your 5 nights. I know it's not a Disney/Marriott/Wyndham pool and all, but some of the condo complexes offer a resort-like atmosphere with multiple water slides, etc.

And with airbnb, you get all manner of protections as a renter. There is pretty much zero chance of a scam in that the owner doesn't get paid until AFTER you successfully check in. And, if the owner double books or something like that, airbnb steps in and pays for alternative lodging (or so I've heard at least twice).

Thank you for the suggestion Andre. I actually had a certificate that was a few days from expiring. Just had to renew my membership. Snatched up that deal as quick as i could.

Good for you. Congratulations!

Wherever you reserved, try to find a map of the resort to be able to identify what building you might prefer. Do you want to be right at the pool? On the pool side of the building (louder but more interesting, particularly for kids) or the non-pool side of the building? Lower floor, higher floor?

Unless, of course, you already know the resort in which case you know exactly where to go.

Let the front desk know via phone call and you will very likely get what you want during your "almost off-season" week.
