I'm looking at a Marriott resale that I'd like to use mostly as a trader. Its a 2 bdrm at Marriott Grande Ocean Hilton Head wks are 49-50 and 1-4. It trades with II which is another reason I am looking at it. I currently only trade with RCI and my week at OLCC doesn't seem to pull better resorts. Has anyone who may own here for these weeks gotten the trades that they wanted. Do you think this would be a desirable resort for folks to want to trade into at those times of the year? The price seems good at $3500 for an annual week with mf's at $900.

Opinions please as I've never done a resale.

thank you all!

If you want a trader, get something more desirable. Those aren't great weeks in my opinion.

I agree with Zac495. If you want to be able to trade anywhere at anytime then you want to get yourself a Platinum week; not a bronze week.

Remember, those inexpensive weeks you are looking at are cheap for two reasons: Low demand time at home resort & poor horsepower for trading purposes.

There are some good buys out there right now for Platinum weeks, many of which seem to be slipping thru the ROFR process.

I own gold season at Marriott Surfwatch, and have never had a problem trading with II. My friends and I have traded for exactly what we wanted at other very desirable resorts with specific weeks needed.

If Marriott Bronze

If you want to trade in the 59 day window, I would not buy on HHI. There have been threads around these parts about the SummitWatch Bronze being only 1500 and if you want to trade last minute they snag any of the Marriotts. There are some concerns though, about the Bronze trading options as this might not work once Marriott operates it's own trading system.

Do some searches on Marriott Bronze and see what you get...

Grande Ocean is a fabulous resort, but those weeks are in Jan and Feb when the weather is awful and hardly anyone goes to HH.

So consider this: I have a week in the Summer at Grande Ocean to trade and you have the Bronze week in January. Which person do you think will get the trade first? Or: I have a week in October (gold season) same question?

Trades are based on desireability. Yes, it is a Marriott 2 bedroom at a great resort, but if you are buying this to exchange with you may get frustrated. It also depends on the time of year you would want to exchange into. If you travel in the summer months which is peak season, you will be very challenged.

I would pick same resort gold season, or better yet Custom House in Boston, or a gold week in Aruba!
