I have a two bedroom, specific lockout unit, and I only need a one bedroom, so I would like to rent the studio. I called Hyatt and they told me that I could only use the one bedroom, but I could not get another reservation for the studio, that it would have to go into points. Is this correct? The representative on the line went and checked with her supervisor, but I would think that this is my unit and I should be able to get a separate reservation for it. Hopefully I explained this correctly.

Thanks
Donna

This issue was discussed previously. You cannot get HRPP reservations for both sides separately. At least you cannot do it online. If you reserve 1br during HRPP, the is studio automatically converted to CUP points. If you reserve your studio during HRPP, the 1br is automatically converted to CUP points.

Someone has reported success getting HRPP reservations for both sides separately by phone, but I think that was an exception. I believe the rule is you cannot do that.

Why not reserve your two BR unit, and rent the studio yourself. Since you will be there occupying the 1BR just ask for the lockoff door to be locked and the entries to have separate keys. They only limit you to one reservation but if you own the entire unit you can do as you wish as far as use. You can rent here on TUG or use Redweek.

I would think that someone that rents the unit would want a reservation in their name with a separate reservation number. I can't see how redweek would be able to verify the studio.

I own a lock out and for my week, I do get two separate reservations. You can not do this online, you have to call.
There was a small charge for what they call the second reservation, about $40.00. You have to call HYATT, to request, tell them, if the agent does not understand how, that they have to call corporate to do so. Then you can go online and get a guest certificate for whom ever. (I rent it)

The first time I tried, I was told no way, I called back and got someone knowledgeable and no problem. Now when they say no way, I refer them to my history and tell them to call corporate.

If you reserve your week as a two bedroom, I have read that the resort will not lock it out when you arrive.

The "Can I split my HRPP deeded lock off into 2 separate reservations" topic has been plowed numerous times here on TUG.

Reserving both the A and the B side of a lock off as two separate reservations can be done. You have to call the 800-Go Hyatt as it can't been done online. The Go Hyatt crew will reserve the whole two bedroom unit and will send a request to Corporate to split the unit into 2 reservations. ONLY Corporate can do the split.

FWIW: An HRPP deeded week is yours to do with as you please, what good is a lock off if you can't it lock it off? If you get an GO Hyatt agent that says it can't be split, hang up and call back and get another agent. Note: you get one free HRPP reservation, so when splitting a lock off into 2 reservations, you'll have to pay for the 2nd HRPP reservation.

Here is the latest-I called and was transferred to a higher power and was told that the department that handled this was not available until Monday. On Monday I checked and they had me booked in my one bedroom, but put the balance into points. I will call them today, but not feeling too good about this. I have called and talked to three different reps and they all tell me the same thing, I cannot get two reservations. I will keep trying as I have another two bedroom unit for the following week, again another lockout. Hyatt does not make this easy.

The department that splits a 2 bd into two reservations is "Corporate" Hyatt - they work 8-5 on M-F. Agreed, they do not make it easy - why an HRC owner can't talk directly to Corporate Hyatt is beyond me. However perseverance pays off - so stick with it.

After much perseverance, last year I was able to get Hyatt to split my lock off from the one bedroom unit, my unit is a specific lock off unit. I just call and requested it be done this year and they are telling me again that it can't be done. I sent a email with the note that I wanted the request to go the corporate and the response was that it could not be done. I have asked for a corporate phone number but they won't give it out, if there is one. Does anyone have any other way I can accomplish the splitting of my unit? Thank You.

Once the reservation is completed for the 1 BR side, the lock-off will go into the HRC pool. Trying to get it back from the pool will be extremely difficult. The lesson learned is do not complete the reservation until you have two reservations in hand and your dealing with someone above the rank of Nimnode.

Any idea of how I can reach the "Corporate" level? I have called the reservation number and keep getting the same info, that is It can't be done and I have asked for a supervisor.

I had the same issue. I called back until I got another "voice". He was knowledgeable and did what was nessasary, went to corporate. Personaly I don't know how or by what right Hyatt has to tell me how to use MY deeded lockout. Heck, I don;t even want to belong to the "points system". I also got the idea that the inexperience of some of those answering your call might be involved...in the way of terminology. They are following a script, and took the wrong path. Time to protest loudly...any recommendations as to who, contact?

I have called three times and got three different people and they all tell me the same thing, I cannot get two reservations, even if willing to pay for them. I was also told there is no way to contact "Corporate". If I owned a designated two bedroom I could understand their position, but my unit is a specific lock off and I should be able to lock it off. I would like to go up the chain, but I cannot find any info on how. If anyone knows please let me know. Thank You.

How is it that the new owners of the Hyatt brand can arbitrarily descide that I can not use MY OWNED DEEDED property the way I have been using it? Could it be that the failing HPP needs more access to satisfy that demand? I can predict some of the responses from Marriott...it was always a privilege not a right, an exception. I bought a lock out, paid good money for it and now at the hands of Marriott, they want to restrict my rights and use. I have a proposion for Marriot... pay me what I paid, plus infation and you can have the unit back to use for your HPP system. Rediculous, never happen I know. And why is it that "coprorate" is hidding behind the call center wall? No open contact information not even a email. And the call center ...when pressed gave me the WOH phone number, a complete dishonest response, a failure of thier responsability. We as owners actually PAY for this abuse...go figure! And last rant where is our BOD on this? Crickets!

I'm struggling with the same issue as the rest of you, and so far no success getting two reservations. I own a lock-off unit, so I should be able to lock it off and get two reservations. For the same scenario at a different resort where I own, getting two reservations for my lockoff isn't a problem. If Hyatt fixed this they'd be able to collect extra reservation and guest fees from the lockoff.

Update on my mission to get answers from HRC AKA "corporate". I posted on HRC Facebook and recommend everyone with this lockout abuse issue do so as well. Very quickly I received a response to PM my complaint, which I did. Another reasonably quick response, turned it over to "customer care" who will be in contact with me. I gave them my phone number. That was 2 days ago. IMO, I think that MVC AKA HRC is infringing on my rights as a deeded owner of a lockout. I have no option to opt out of the II/HRC/ points system, I am obligated to pay those points associated fees even though I do not use them. I bought to use not trade. And now the are forcing me to use their points schemes by trying to force me to deposit part of MY OWNED deed week lock-off.

Next, I will wait one more day before posting on FB again...wonder if they will block me? If you own a lock-out time to lodge your compliant with MVC aka HRC. I agreed to NOTHING that limits my use of my lock-out. For the record. I did mange to get my two reservations. But is was very difficult.

Outside of the main phone number, there seems to be no way to contact their corporate office. I sent them a message on the facebook site and will let you know when they get back to me and what happens.

Following up on this topic. I received a call from "corporate", a Consumers Affairs Specialist. The call was handled in a professional curious way...with I give kudos to HRC and the specialist.
We had a discussion about lock-offs and I was given information on how HRC handles a lock out. As Enchino posted above he is correct. You can reserve the entire (A&B) unit or one of the lockout sides. (A or B). If you reserve only one side, then the remaining side gets deposited and you get the points. Basically you are taking your chances within the reservation pool when you deposit the week, unit might or not be on the waitlist, could get another simular unit the same week but differnt building. So an "exception" was what was (unknown to me) happening. And FYI, with the info given, I found the lockout rule on page 15, section 4.2...(?) b2 in the HRC club rules online.

While I personally do not like the rule and think it a restriction of my property rights, I did by a HRC week at Sunset. and the HRC rules were there well before I came along. In hindsight...read/understand the club rules before you buy. I bought my weeks at HSS to use, so now I'll have to figure out the best way to use the system for my purposes. I'll have to spend some time trying to learn the in's and outs of the HRC points game..something that previous to yesterdays call, I had zero interst in. In my (worst) case might have to reserve a one bedroom or studio at another HRC resort. Not a terribly bad ending, just not as planned.

I received the same info. Don't like it, but there is nothing that I can do about it.
