Local boy win Best New Artist at ACM awards.

Local boy and American idol 2011 winner Scotty McCreery just was announced winner of Best New Artist award at the ACM awards show in Vegas..

He is also auctioning off his high school baseball jersey online at http://www.fanbuff.com/Club/Forums/ForumPosts.aspx?ClubId=56&ThreadId=676

with proceeds going to buy equipment for the Garner Senior HIgh School in Garner NC.

Its nice to see someone you know do well...

I know a lot of people dont really care about this but when someone you know from a small town like Garner make it to the big time its kinda special for everyone on the local level..

Plus he worked at a local grocery store, Lowes Food, and was in contact with a lot of us locals. His parents come into the store regularly still my daughter tells me, she works there, plus he was and still is in High School at the local school and is on the baseball team.

I mean just a couple week or so ago i see him driving in the Ford Rancher F-250 he won on Idol so for us locals this is a big deal...

Plus the kid is the same as before he when to idol and won.. Yes mam, no mam, etc. very humble and nice, a testament to his parents whom i know from my business dealing with his mom when she was active in real estate sales a couple years ago..

just a good kid all the way around..



plus having his name in the title box it gets index by google which can help drive more traffic to TUG.. always a good thing to let more know about us and time sharing..

I love to hear that someone famous is still a decent person and is respected by those who know him best. Thanks for posting. We saw Scotty here in Las Vegas when he opened for Brad Paisley and he did such a great job. It was one of the best shows we've ever seen.

I'm always happy to see "Scotty love" on any site! I followed/voted for Scotty all through American Idol, saw the AI concert at RBC center and follow him on various fan sites, etc. I live about 70 miles from Garner, but still consider him to be "one of ours." Love his music and love who he is even more! :whoopie:

we were at the AI concert in RBC as well.. The sky box above was we a owner of a business i knew and his son and my daughter knew each other as well.. Scottys dad came by and stopped to chat for a bit with them as us as well. A lot of the people from his church were going down the step heading to the floor to seat he had reserved for them.. We were stuck on the top row below the boxes but it was cool as we knew the folks up.

70 miles puts you in fayetteville or sanford area..?

So happy for Scotty! He was our family favorite the season he was on American Idol!

I think Scotty's year was the last time I watched AI. He certainly does have a wonderful voice.
