TUG was interviewed for this story, and a local TUG member told me they saw it on the news last night!

Thanks!

Wow, he paid over $4K to list the property for sale? He must be expecting a really high sales price.

We get calls all the time. You don’t know if the company is legitimate or not but they know that you own timeshares. I just say that I’m not interested in selling.

Not onoy that but apparently everyone doesn’t know that you never pay upfront to a timeshare selling company.

When I get a call from any timeshare company, be it a promotion or an exit company, I tell them I don't own a timeshare and have no interest in owning a timeshare. Haven't had a similar call in months.

Exactly. It would be nice (although it's fantasy at this moment) if the resorts, when sending out their quarterly letters to owners, would also mention this point. That, IMHO, would save many owners from falling for this scam.

This is a very good tip, however I think it is never mentioned as it makes getting rid of your timeshare far too easy. Some Resorts may become inundated with Timeshares that they don't want either and it could put them under water.

Which is why it's all fantasy at the moment. The other reason, IMHO, why many resorts don't actively send out such warnings is that this would expose the "scam" they are running of selling overpriced timeshares.
